╚═════ ∘◦ ❈ ◦∘ ══════╝THE TICKING OF THE GRANDFATHER CLOCK WAS DEAFENING TO AMARA'S EARS. She was sitting on the floor waiting for the small clicking hand to move around the circular object. Her legs to her chest as she listened intently. As tears brimmed her eyes slightly. When the large hand hit the six she closed her eyes, letting the tears fall from her eyes.
Opening her eyes, she looked down at the chocolate cupcake with a candle in front of her. Reaching for it, she stared at the flame for a few seconds thinking of a wish. The blowing softly at the small candle. Watching as the smoke lift to the sky.
"Happy twenty-four, Amara," she whispered to herself.
Getting up from the ground, she walked to the kitchen to throw the candle away. Them moving to eat the small pastry. A few months prior, Deckard had left to some mission that needed him. Leaving the blonde to be home alone. The house felt gray all day without him constantly there with her. His warm hugs, kisses, and some mornings breakfast that he decided to make.
It was a big change from her twenty-first birthday. She had gotten together with Mia and Brian for the small celebration. Her now being able to drink "legally" with the supervision of Brian of course. That day had also been the day, Deckard and Brian officially met.
Brian hadn't hesitated to punch Deckard right in the face. For the heartbreak of his sister, and the killing of his friend. It was all fair, as he gave him another chance to know the man. They weren't friends per se, but they were civil. But Mia had been more open with the British man.
So, when she turned twenty-two she decided to spend it alone, not wanting anyone else to replace a promise made. But then on her twenty-third birthday, Deckard made sure to celebrate it in a way that she would've liked. Cupcakes and driving along on the coast of California at high speeds, the wind blowing on her face.
Amara didn't mind spending her birthday alone whatsoever, but it was the memories that haunted her. Once upon a time, a man promised her that her twenty-second birthday would be the best as it had been for him. So, for the time she was with him, she looked forward to getting older to find out if it was.
It wasn't, because he wouldn't be there to make sure it was the best. Finishing her cupcake, she threw it away and tried to shake it off. She was no longer a high school student from Japan, but a grown woman that was capable of many things.
As she left the kitchen to head to her room, the phone in the living room rang. Sighing she walked over to it, picking it up, "Hello?" she answered.
"Amara pack a bag, we're coming for you," Tej's voice rang through the phone then hung up.
Running up to her room, she quickly grabbed a duffle bag and threw in all the necessities she would need. Quickly to change herself into some dickies pants and a white cropped tank-top. Throwing on her infamous pink converse, she ran out the door, locking it hearing the honking outside.
