Kiera's POV
"Which one?" I ask reece while holding up a long navy blue dress with a slit up the thigh and a red tight fit pencil dress with glitter covering the silky material. He scrutinised each dress, taking in every single detail. "Neither" he replied with a serious face. I lowered the dresses to see him clearly and made sure he knew I was unimpressed. "Well, it has to be one of them Reece" I said. He shook his head and says "neither" once again. I picked up my phone and threw it, aiming for his head. "I swear to god Reece, pick one or I'll just pick it myself." He rolled his eyes while muttering "blue" quietly but loud enough for me to hear him. "See wasn't that difficult was it" I stated.

I walked into my walk-in wardrobe to change into the dress and paired it with silver heels and a range of silver jewellery including; 2 rings, a bracelet and a necklace my mother gave me for my 18th birthday. I let my hair hang loose past my shoulders, not having the energy to put effort into styling it. After 20 minutes in the wardrobe I stepped out and stood in front of Reece. "So?" I questioned him, hoping for an actual response this time. "You look good, Kie" he said as he observed my outfit.

I walked straight past him, retrieving my phone on the way. He followed me out of my room and down the staircase towards the kitchen where my parents were waiting for us. Mother walked over to me with a proud smile on her face and held me at arms length, "you look stunning honey" she said, tucking my hair behind my ear and running her hand down my cheek. I replied to her compliment with a small smile and looked over her shoulder to see my father staring at his watch. "Hurry, we can't be late, we need to give a good first impression" he boomed. He strolled out of the house towards the chauffeur in the black car, sitting outside our house. Mother followed him closely in her pale yellow dress and matching wedge heels. I linked arms with Reece as we walked to the door and down the pathway to the car.

Nobody said a word in the car, probably due to the stress radiating from my father alone. This was the most important party we have ever had to go to as the joining of the American and English mafias will be finalised tonight. Even though the mafias are only coming together for a few months, this is extremely important to my father.

When we finally arrived to the hall, my mother and father linked arms, making it visible they were together while me and Reece trailed behind. "Keep up" my father barked as we reached the doors. As we walked through, all eyes were on us. We didn't make eye contact with anyone as that was a very crucial rule in father's book. "Eye contact shows weakness" he'd say, i reckon it's a whole load of bull shit.

We made our way over to Mr and Mrs Scott who were standing on the opposite side of the hall near the bar. With them were their 4 children; Kyle, Jack, Tyler and Holly. Kyle was the oldest of the 4 but for some reason Jack is the heir to their mafia.. i don't understand how that works but i try not to question it. Father casually strolled over to Mr Scott, he held out his for Mr Scott to take it and as he did father said "Scott" in a very deep voice. "Faulkner" Mr Scott replied. I'm guessing they don't use their first names to sound formal? Who knows?

"A red wine, a whiskey and whatever these are having" Mr Scott said in a demanding tone towards the bartender. He seemed unbothered by the way he was just spoken to and he prepared their drinks at lightning speed. "We'll take the same" my father said to the bartender.

I walked away from them, not all that interested in what they had to say, Reece went and ordered him and I a vodka coke. I moved towards the balcony to look out on the view, but to my surprise, I saw Jack Scott with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth.

I stood around 7ft away from him but even from that distance I could feel his eyes explore my whole body. I looked over at him, catching him off guard "what?" i snapped at him as a smirk appeared on his face. "Oh, just admiring the view" he answered. I rolled my eyes and turned to walk back into the crowded hall. "I just ended a 4 year relationship" he mentioned. I turned around and raised an eyebrow at him in confusion. Why the hell was he telling me this? "It's okay, it wasn't my relationship" he announced with a proud smile on his smug face. "Asshole" i muttered, annoyed that i even gave him the slightest bit of attention. "See you around Kiera Faulkner" he shouted after me.
