Kiera's POV
Everyone gathered around the stage as Mr Scott and my father were about to seal the deal. I cannot wait for this night to be over."By forming this alliance, Scott and I are hoping to solve any minor inconveniences which we are faced with and set up our children in the best way possible for the future." My father broadcasted. "We believe this is the only way to do so and are incredibly grateful for everyone who took their time to come and witness this tonight." They shook hands and everyone cheered and clapped and whistled. My father had the biggest smile on his face as if this was the highlight of his life.
A few hours later, people began to head home, leaving only around 35 people left. Father was on the verge of alcohol poisoning and Mother was attempting to replace his drink with water. I scanned the hall for Reece and found him heading for the door. I ran after him, well as close to a run you can do in 2 inch heels, and caught him as the door was about to swing shut. "Hey, where you going?" I asked him. He turned around, surprised to see me standing behind him. "Just needed some air, I'll be back in a minute." He was acting strange so I continued to follow him. "What's wrong Reece?" I questioned him as he strolled down the steps. "Nothing, Keira... go inside." I stared at him, attempting to figure out why he was being such a dick. "You know I'm not gonna do as you tell me so you might as well spill" I replied. As he got to the bottom of the steps, he lowered himself and sat on the wall. He put his head in his hands and released a deep sigh.
"My Grandfather just died and my Mother doesn't seem the slightest bit bothered." He said as I sat next to him. "Reece, I'm so sorry" I said, resting my head on his shoulder. He placed his head on top of mine and we sat there for a few minutes while he composed himself. I'm not the greatest when it comes to consoling someone so this is the best I could do.
2 men walked past us while we were sitting outside, I didn't recognise either of them but i assumed they were here for the Scott's. We followed them inside, still not completely trusting them and as they walked through the entrance, one of them reached in their pocket and pulled out a pistol. I quietly opened my bag, pulled out a knife and held it to his neck. "Put the gun down" I said in a hushed voice. He froze as he felt the blade make contact with his throat. All attention was on us while the other guy attempted to threaten me with his gun. "You know full well if you shoot me, this blade is slitting his throat, but it's completely up to you." You could see by the fear on his face he did not plan for this to happen.
I never took my eye off of the man with the gun pointed at me and all of a sudden a gun was pointed at the side of his head. His eyes widened and he held his hands up in the air, dropping his gun to the floor. Jack. "Who sent you?" He said in a demanding tone. I don't think he planned for this to happen either. "You deaf as well as boneheaded? Who the fuck sent you?!" He shouted directly in his ear. I felt the guy in my arms shake his head and so I pressed the blade slightly harder into his skin. "I wouldn't" I whispered.
After a few minutes of them being completely frozen with shock and not speaking a word. Jack pulled the trigger and dropped his lifeless body to the floor. Following his lead, I sliced the other's throat open. Watching him grasp at his neck as blood poured from his body was quite amusing. Everyone in the hall watched as we stood over their bodies, not knowing where we go from here. Jack looked up at me and winked, and for some reason I experienced a slight flutter in my stomach. What the actual fuck was that.
