"I hope Tanjiro is feeling better by the time I get back. He got attacked by a wolf while chopping wood yesterday" Nezuko chirped to Saburo, a nice old man whom was acquainted to Tanjiro. He had offered to let Nezuko stay the night as it was very late.
"Such a shame that such a hardworking boy has to deal with this kind of stuff. At least it wasn't a demon" Saburo said to Nezuko as they ate.
"Demon?" Nezuko inquiried "aren't those just myths? Ya know to scare kids into doing things? 'If you don't eat you vegetables the demons will come and gobble you up' they can't really exist can they?"
"Trust me. They do" said Saburo "but never mind that it's time you get some sleep young lady. You can take my bet I'll sleep on the futon in the living room"
"Thanks again for all this Saburo. I'll tell Tanjiro you said hi" said Nezuko before heading to bed.
WITH TANJIRO
"Shit my wound opened again. Lemme go get some bandages" Tanjiro muttered to himself quietly as not to wake his sleeping family.
As he rummaged around looking for the bandages he heard a noise coming from outside
"Hm must be a rabbit or something" he said to himself continuing to search for something to patch himself up.
He heard a door slide open, and just assumed it was one of his little brothers going to take a leak.
He finally found the bandages and began to wrap his leg, which had a long deep gash down it, and washed the blood off his hands after.
As he wandered back to his bed he smelled something foul. It was unbelievably strong too. He didn't know what it was though. The smell was overwhelming him so much that he almost missed another smell.
Blood
Tanjiro's eyes widened in panic as he dashed towards where his siblings were resting and dashed through the open door. What he found what horrific.
His siblings and mother torn open, their mangled corpses being snacked on by another person.
Tanjiro fell back in shock drawing the the attention of the man. But when he turned around Tanjiro could tell that wasn't a person.
"Ah so it was you who drew me here. I could smell your blood from across the mountain" the thing said. "So I came here to partake in a bit of dinner" it finished, crawling towards Tanjiro slowly
Tanjiro scrambled to his feet and went to run but tripped over the dismembered arm of his mother, falling face first.
The creature pounced on him, ripping off his right leg, sticking it in its mouth. Tanjiro hit the the creature but it didn't budge, it just seemed to annoy it.
The creature dropped the remains of what used to be his leg and slashed at him with a clawed hand.
It hit him directly in the chest ripping open a massive wound in his torso.
The creature reared back it's arm for a finishing blow but froze up. It began to sniff the air and it's eyes widened.
It's looked around frantically and ran out of the room past the dying boy. Tanjiro watched it dash down the hall to the front entrance.
It never made it.
An arm shot straight through the wall next to the creature, instantly grabbing its neck, lifting it up off its feet.
Another hand shot through and grabbed the creature by the skull and crushed it with ease.
As Tanjiro's vision faded he only heard a couple words "I'm sorry for what I must do" as he drifted off into death he saw a beautiful woman reach down and cup his cheek with her hand
"Forgive me..."
