Chapter 13

The next day--- Mary-Louise, Nora, Kaden, Lydia, and Allison were talking.

Lydia walked into the room. "Well, I just got off the phone with Lexi. She's on her way, with Brett and Malia." She told them. "She wants to hear the whole story when she gets here."

"You didn't tell her?" Kaden asked.

"I couldn't tell her everything over the phone, so I gave her the shortened version." She told her brother. "The Shadowhunters will be here in a little bit as well."

"Magnus?" Allison asked.

"Him and Alec are working on finding Rowan and what kind of damage he's done to get this sort of power. Speaking of, how did he? We still have Samantha's dark object." She asked.

"It turns out he didn't need ours. Samantha had others and he took those instead." Nora told them as the others walked in.

"We have visitors." Kai smiled as Jace,Izzy and Clary walked in.

"How's the spell coming along?" Jace asked.

"I was just about to talk about the pendent."

"We can't resurrect Rebekah until we are certain her mind is whole." Nora told them.

"What's the problem?" Clary asked.

"When that pendant shattered, Rebekah's mind shattered with it. She's most likely retreated to the innermost core of her consciousness." Mary-Louise told them.

"How do we find that?" Allison asked.

"We don't know." Nora said, looking at the group.

"She could be anywhere in over decades of memories, but if we try fixing the pendant before finding and healing her mind, she'll be permanently fractured, like casting a broken bone before it's been properly set." Mary-Louise said.

"Spare me the medical analogies and fix her." Kaden said.

"We need to go inside and find her. Once we are sure her mind is stable, then Nora and I can fix the pendant." Mary-Louise said, annoyed. She understood why he was acting like this, she would be the same if it were Nora instead of Rebekah, but it still annoyed her.

"Well, then stop talking and get in there." Kaden said, anxiously.

"Kaden?" Lydia told him, not doing this again. "Take a walk. Get some air, let them work. Please." Kaden turned around and walked out of the room.

"I will go see where he is headed to." Kai said following after him.

"Please tell me that you can do this." Lydia asked.

"She's family. I'm not gonna stop until she's safe."

Kaden is talking to Rebekah.

"I'm so sorry, Bex." He says and sighs. "This will not be your end. We will not rest until we bring you back. No matter what." Kaden tells her as Lexi appears behind him.

"I'm only gone for a week and you guys get yourself into a bunch of trouble. I just can't leave any of you alone, can I." She joked, smiling at him as he turned around and hugged her. "I never should have left."

"You couldn't have known."

"I don't know the whole story but, I do know what happened to Rebekah."

"Rowan is moving up his little game, he gathered a ton of Samantha's dark objects and gained power to try and kill us. She did disscate her but her soul was put into a pendant. Sadly when we got thrown back it shattered into three pieces. They are working on fixing it."
