⚠️ TW: Bullying, Violence, Name calling.
My heart pounded against my chest uncontrollably as I walked through the hallways of this new school, gripping tightly onto the straps of my backpack. In front of me was the counselor, escorting me to the classroom I was assigned to. It was obvious to him that I was nervous. I have been transfered to new schools because of my parent's occupations in the past, but this was different. This was in another country.
Japan.
Sure, I was born here and of course, I know the language, just don't know what I could expect. I was in the States most of my life and for the most part, it was good. I had good friends and kind teachers. But here...? I'm not sure.
The counselor stopped in his tracks, facing a classroom door. He gave it a gentle knock and opened it slowly. At this point, I was just about to have a heart attack. The counselor goes in, and I follow close behind him.
❝ Sensei. I'm sorry to interrupt your class. This is your new student. ❞ The teacher blinked, a confused expression on her face. It was evident that she had forgotten I was supposed to be coming in today. The rest of the class had begun to quiet down at my presence, whispering among themselves things about me.
❝ Ah! Yes! Go ahead and introduce yourself! Tell us where you come from as well! ❞ Regardless of her forgetfulness, the teacher seemed sweet. I step forward and swallow the lump in my throat. I can feel everyone's gaze on me as I bow politely before introducing myself.
❝ Hello. My name is (Y/N) (L/N). I was born here but I've lived a while abroad. Please take good care of me! ❞ The sound of a couple of soft claps was a cue to lift my head. A small smile forms on my lips as I turn to look at the teacher, waiting for any further instructions. Eventually, she assigned me a seat. A window seat at that and at the very back. How lucky am I? Or so I thought. As I sat in my classroom, I couldn't help but notice the piercing glares coming from the female students on the opposite end of the room. I was completely perplexed as to what I could have possibly done to deserve such hostility from them. Their eyes were fixed on me, and I couldn't shake off the feeling of discomfort that lingered in the air. It was as if a dark cloud had settled over the room. I had no clue what I did for them to do such a thing, but I chose to disregard it for now.
Sighing, I rest my chin on the palm of my hand and focus on my studies for now. The only thing I wished for was for a deskmate to catch me up on whatever it was that they were learning. I could ask the people in front of me, but I wouldn't want the teacher to scold them so I left it at that.
Soon enough, It was time for a break.
Because I had rushed in the morning, I did not even bother making myself anything. All I did was grab an apple and that's what I am about to eat now. As I was about to take the first bite, three girls appeared on my right, one of them taking a seat on the desk next to me. The other two just stood behind her, their arms crossed over their chest. Are those her guards or something?
Those were the same girls from earlier.
❝ Abroad, huh? Let me guess...? Canada? No wait! America! ❞ The girl sitting next to me asked, twirling a lock of brown hair around her finger, plucking at what I assume is her split ends. I glanced at her and as I did, her eyes scanned me from head to toe.
