Alex

She slams the door violently, and I decide to take it as a personal affront.

"Sorry guys, I'll be right back.", I exclaim before running out.

I look for her everywhere, near the snack machines, in the student lounge, in the library, but nothing.

I quickly go down the stairs and almost stumble.

I walk past the women's bathroom and feel sobs. I walk in at a brisk pace and find her there, on the ground, crying.

I stand still, I don't know what to do.

Suddenly her gaze meets mine.

"I'm sorry.", I tell her really dismayed.

"Excuse me, I had to be silent.", she replies.

I sit on the ground next to her. That bathroom floor is so dirty, but I don't care.

"Listen.", I continue, "it is plausible that you have different ideas from mine. And I'm sorry if I let myself go. ", I say stroking her hand.

"But no, you've nothing to do with it. It's just that you're right, I'm the one who has a wrong conception of what love is. "

"I would probably never sacrifice my happiness for someone else, but I can understand you, even if I don't share your point of view."

"Have you ever been in love?" she asks me out of the blue.

"It may be yes, it may be no. I have no methods of comparison. "

She wipes his eyes with a handkerchief.

"Me neither. But I know love, the poignant one spoken of in books. "

"Do you think there is the same love in reality?", I continue.

Well, I don't know. But I want to live for that. ", She says.

I smile at her and help her get up.

"Sorry for what happened before, it won't happen again.", I whisper to her.

She nods yes and walks away, leaving me alone in that filthy bathroom.

How had it occurred to me to speak like that?

I leave the bathroom and am about to return to the classroom, but I am stopped by the secretary.

"Chapman, have you found your tutor yet? You have until this afternoon! ", she exclaims.

Fuck! The tutor. ", I think.

"I am your tutor.", Exclaims Dr. Vause having overheard the conversation.

I look at her disoriented.

"But what ...", I try to ask.
"Shhh, don't say anything, let me help you. "

"But I don't want to bother.", I tell her.

"You don't bother at all. Consider that, I will be able to be forgiven for what I said and we could study together. ", She whispers.

I smile and accept.

The secretary signals that she has understood and disappears into the corridors.

I finally return to the classroom, the eyes of all my colleagues on me.

Shortly thereafter, she too returns.

"Well.", she says, "having cleared up this little misunderstanding, I would say we can proceed."

The lesson goes on for a while. Some of my colleagues read, others think about texting with the phone, the fact is that time passes quickly.
