Chpt 8 :

 The student's canteen was relatively quiet owing to the upcoming exams.Shirabu sat in a corner,chewing on his bacon/bun lunch, as he sat with Sogabe and Shioda ,his med school acquaintances. Since first year of med school,the three had the same classes, as they were all "S"s alphabetically, and they eventually bonded.

Rinako Sogabe struggled with Community Medicine,which Satou Shioda was surprisingly adept at. "Interesting, important but irksome." was Shirabu's view on the subject.They had viva voce after lunch and decided on quizzing each other. Shirabu preferred reading alone,but with Community and Social medicine,he'd make an exception. Shioda seemed prepared. Shirabu got a few details wrong and he frowned, opening up his textbook to review all of that.

Sogabe whined."That's enough for me. I'm gonna scroll through insta to clear my head. In ten minutes we'll answer again ok, Shirabu-kun?"she suggested,"..and Shioda-kun keep new questions this time."

Shioda busied himself with framing new questions,while Shirabu attentively revised Biostatistics.

"Oh emm geee! Shioda-kun look! Do you remember Rio-san? He's back and he's now leading his own company.This is great.If he picks up idols,I'll surely be in touch". Sogabe voiced her excitement as she stopped at a particular post on Instagram.

Shirabu heard snippets of the conversation. He obviously knew whom Sogabe was talking about.She was into idols and boy groups ,like most of the others.Shioda seemed a little taken aback-the sudden topic change from Community Medicine to Idols,rendered him clueless and he didn't know what to say except look at the post Sogabe showed to him and nod.

"His own company?"Shirabu interjected. Sogabe seemed a little too thrilled to share details of the ex-Med school heartthrob,Rio Suzuki.

"Yeah Shirabu-kun.He was always a lovely rebel of sorts,you know.So he wanted to pursue music.He went to Moscow and now he's back.He has his own talent company now.It's new,but you know Rio san!" she explained with puppy dog eyes.

Rio Suzuki was the quintessential hunk,the common campus crush and Shirabu would lie to himself if he didn't admit the guy was somewhat charismatic and best of all, focused on his goals.But Shirabu being Shirabu was just the fly on the wall.He had never spoken to Rio Suzuki.Hell,he hardly even spoke to his present batchmates. Plus,the man in question was three years older.He was in his fourth year of med school when Shirabu had joined.

Rio was amazing at the piano and guitar.He also had a magna cum laude in his second year med school,but Shirabu had that too,in both his first, second years and first half of fourth year.

The only week throughout the year the undergraduates would enjoy was Talent week.It was the week for boys like Rio to shine. And he did.Shirabu normally avoided talent week and took the time to visit his mother or laze about in his room watching anime with Goshiki or drinking hot chocolate with Taichi at a cafe near the apartment complex and making extra notes for exams. He would , however,attend the inaugural every year and Rio world perform. Shirabu loved the guitar solos of his upperclassman and so did the whole school. He would often come back and listen to his guitar riffs and covers on YouTube.
Rio had his own YouTube channel.Ostensibly he didn't continue with medicine but chose a more flexible path in music.

Whatever Shirabu thought as he re-read the previous questions.

"Ten minutes up...let's quiz."Shioda reminded them.
