'Harry and Ron had left'

Harry and Ron had left

Hermione had repeated those words lupin told her over and over again in her head. Her best friends had left her behind to go Horcrux hunting.

She sat in her and Ginny's room in the burrow, crying, for hours. Thinking about how her friends had abandoned her.

There was a knock at the door

"Hermione, I think you should come out now." Ginny, one of Hermione's best friends younger sisters has whispered. Although Hermione and Ginny had known each other for a long time, she still didn't feel as close to her as she did with Harry and Ron.

Hermione stood up from leaning on the bed and flicked the door open with her wand. Ginny was standing there waiting for her. Hermione came out of the room. She stood across from Ginny and said " Thanks, I needed to get out of that room". She sighed. Hermione left her position and walked calmly down the stairs. Ginny was surprised how Hermione was acting now, just like nothing happened. Ginny knew Hermione was strong but she didn't know how strong until now.

When Hermione reached the bottom of the stairs, everyone stared at her. "Hey, guys, what's going on." Hermione had said. This was the first she had sounded tranquil in a while. With everything going on at the time, Hermione never had any time to be calm. Especially now that her two best friends had just left and are now in danger. The large group had filled her in on what was happening. The Order was letting her and Ginny go back to Hogwarts this year. Professor, now Headmistress McGonagall had also told them that Hermione was to be Head Girl this year. Hermione, yet happy about this news, felt even sadder. Her two friends wouldn't be joining her for their final year at Hogwarts. Instead, they were out somewhere in danger, hunting down Horcruxes.

September 1st arrived shorty enough. Hermione and Ginny boarded the train just the same as every year, except this time it was without her two best friends. Hermione decided to sit with Ginny, Luna and Neville in a quiet compartment. It was awkward without her friends there. There was only polite and quiet small talk going around. Nothing about the Order's plans or Harry and Ron.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was now November. There was the occasional letter from Harry and Ron updating her on their whereabouts. Though, Hermione rarely got these letters anymore because it was too dangerous to send by owl. Especially because the letter contained their location.
When Hermione got the first letter from them in October, she was so relieved. She knew that they were actually alive and hadn't been killed. She deep down knew that they were okay, but she also knew that they would be lost without her.
Over the past 3 months, Hermione had been secluding herself from the rest of the school. She only appeared when needed. Most of the time Hermione spent in her head dormitory strategising plans for the Order and Harry and Ron.
Hermione drowned herself with work so she wouldn't have to think about Harry and Ron Leaving. Hermione felt jealousy and rage inside her. Harry and Ron betrayed her and left without her knowing or even getting her to come with them. She felt like she had no say in the situation and they just decided and left without her because 'It is for the best' as Kinglsey had put it. Though Hermione was happy that the both of them were safe, anger still clouded her judgement.
Hermione not being around anymore made everyone curious. The golden girl was usually out and about with her two best friends making trouble, but no one had seen her in days even weeks.
