I stood there in front of my bathroom mirror. My body was clad in a fitting deep red dress, my hair was lightly curled, and my feet already ached from the heels. I glanced at my phone to check the time and noted that Chris would be here in the next 10 minutes. I re-powdered my nose and sighed. Why did I agree to this?

I walked into my kitchen and quickly poured myself a cheap glass of wine. One glass wouldn't hurt; maybe it would calm my nerves. I tipped the glass back against my mouth and finished and one gulp. Before I could even think to pour myself another glass I had a knock at my door. My eyes got wide and that familiar knot in my stomach made an appearance. I shakily put down the wine glass and made my way over to the door. I opened it up to be greeted by Chris's smiling face, "Hey" he spoke so smoothly.

"Hey, um, let me just grab my purse and we can head out. You can step inside if you want." I said and backed up. He came in and I gave him a smile smile before turning around heading for my bedroom to grab my purse and coat.

"Already started on the wine, huh?" he called out to me. I mentally cursed to myself, way to seem classy Evie.

"Uh yeah, just had a glass to calm the nerves." I called back out to him. I gathered my things and came out making my way to the kitchen.

"You're nervous?" he asked me, almost playfully. He had that look in his eyes again.

"Well, I mean, yeah it's not every day a guy asks you out to dinner." I stated to him. I ripped my eyes away from him to break the trance. He slightly scoffed at me and held out his elbow. I took it as a que to interlock my arm with his and we headed out. As we made it down to the car our arms separated but he followed me over to the passenger side and opened my door. "Thank you" I said quietly as I sank into the car. He closed the door once my legs were cleared.

As he got himself into the driver seat he spoke up again, "I find it hard to believe that you don't get asked out fairly regularly.". I looked at him curiously as he started the car.

"What would make you say that?" I questioned him.

"Well you're stunning, absolutely gorgeous. There's no way you don't get asked out regularly." He responded back with a clear of his throat.

"Hate to break it to you but you're wrong. I don't get asked out regularly...I don't get asked out at all. I truly have not been on a date in, god, probably five years." I said back to him. I stared out the windshield, keeping my eyes on the road. I saw him look over at me quickly with a stunned look on his face. "Where are we going anyways?" I asked in hopes of changing the subject.

"Uh, its a surprise." he said. I just nodded and we fell into a silence.

"You do look very beautiful, that dress really bring out your-uh-eyes." he stuttered to me. I silently laughed to myself.

"Thank you. You look rather good yourself." I said back at him, taking a glance at his attire. He was dress in a nice suit, minus a tie. I mean he looked edible and whatever cologne he was wearing was not helping the fact that my mouth was watering at the sight of him. I ripped my eyes away and crossed my legs the best I could in the car.

We arrived at the restaurant and pulled up to a valet. Must be a fancy restaurant to have a valet. Chris got out quickly and I grabbed my purse from the floor before going to open my car door but it was already open. I looked up at Chris and gave him a thankful smile. I stepped out just as cameras started flashing around us. Chris grabbed my hand and quickly brought us inside, handing his keys to the valet guy on the way. Once we got inside he gave me an apologetic smile, "I'm really sorry about all of that. I know it can be overwhelming." he said to me.
