"Hey wake up."

A hand prodded my shoulder, disturbing my afternoon nap.

Reluctant to awaken from my peaceful slumber, I shrugged my shoulder in disapproval and laid on the desk motionlessly.

"I SAID WAKE UP!" Godfrey was practically screaming at me now, slamming his fist onto my desk no longer all that concerned about self-control.

With bags under my eye, I was fully awake now from the rude-awakening and finally realized what I just did. Instinctively I knew that I was not going to get away that easily this time.

Lifting my head up slowly, I risked a tentative look out one eye and saw the fine gray hair, large nose, and beady black eyes Godfrey wearing a not so pleasant face.

This grumpy old scoot has always getting on my case ever since my enlistment!

"Mr. Troy! This is the third time this week where you blatantly sleep on another one of my history lessons!"

I was cowering away now as Godfrey eyes burned holes into me and his massive chest was heaving from shouting, making him even more intimidating than usual.

The classroom was dead silent, everyone's attention was directed towards yet another cat and mouse game between Godfrey and me.

With bated breath, I awaited what would happen next.

As if on cue, the bell tower of Liart Militart Insituite rang thrice signaling the afternoon and on to the next class , granting me a moment of relief.

I was expecting Godfrey to be stomping out of the classroom in rage, however, he shot an ugly grin at me and skipped merrily out.

I felt a slight pang of uneasiness.

"Cheh, you lucked out once again" snickered the blue eyed blond haired Sam from the back-row, "But don't go counting your chickens before they hatched yet!".

Although I was extremely tempted to give Sam a piece of my mind, I knew far too well what he meant . It was only the calm before the storm.

The next class was Combat Training, with Godfrey taking the helm.

Most of the students welcomed the idea of 'playing' around outdoors in contrast to the idea of getting cooped up in a stuffy and cramped room.

However, this was not the case with me. I was a rare case possessing only a very small fragment of a Manastone within my body, which allowed me to use only the simplest of magic.

Due to my Manastone being small, I stuck out like a sore thumb and was often subjected to bullying in the academy.

Particularly, I resented Combat Training where hundreds of students shoot sparkling bolts of thunder and fireballs into the skies, blatantly spreading their prideful wings as though it was an attempt to make a mockery out of me.

The mere thought of this left me ruffling my hair in frustration. Resigning to whatever might come next, I packed my belongings into a sack and proceeded to the Insituite's barrack as I let out yet another long sigh.

As I wore a silvery light chainmail over a white woolen cloth, I noticed a crimson red gleam by the side of my eyes. Turning towards it, I saw that my sack became undone revealing one of my most prized possession. A crimson red arm gauntlet received from my adoptive father, Conrad.

Staring intently at it, I began to reminisce.

It was a fine morning in when all of a sudden Conrad received a sudden request from a messenger requiring his assistance to travel to Eastdell to assist in some monster hunting.
