As Long As I Have You

Chapter 6

Its been days since we've escaped Terminus. Since I was nearly killed. Everyone was still quite shaken up by that eventful time in that hell hole, even Rick and Daryl were because they almost lost me. They check on me everyday to make sure I'm doing okay. I assure them each time that I am fine, that I'm glad that they were there to save me. The other night I heard Maggie thanking Rick for saving me because she said that her and Beth couldn't afford to lose me.

We've been on the road for a few days now. Only stopping to rest a bit or to slay some walkers. We were walking when I heard Judith crying. I turned to see Rick struggling with her, and my way back by him.

" 'd need some help?" I asked giggling as he looked very frustrated. He gave me a smile and laughed.

"That would be great, I think she needs to see you and Carl for a bit," he said as he handed her over to me. I grabbed her and kissed her nose, laying her down in my arms and slowly rocking her, attempting to get her back to sleep but I had no luck. She did stop crying but she was fully awake. As I held her I made my way back into the middle of the group by Carl.

"Look who's missed her big brother," I exclaimed smiling at Carl.

He smiled at me and then looked at his sister, "Hey Judy," he kissed her forehead which made her giggle. In the apocalypse she was the one who made everyone smile no matter what. Even the big "tough guys" like Daryl and Abraham. I pulled Judith to my chest and slightly bounced her, while rubbing her back in little circles trying to get her to fall back asleep. Soon enough she did. I turned to see Carl smiling at me.

"What?" I asked, giggling a bit.

"Nothing, it's just that you would make such a great mother and I know we're young but if this whole apocalypse thing actually ends, I would want to start a family with you once we're old enough," he smiled deeply at me. I felt a blush creep across my face, smiling at the fact that Carl wants to start a family with me.

"I've seen the way you are with Judith and you would make an absolutely kick-ass father just like your dad," i said back to him smiling. Now he was the one blushing. Looking into his beautiful blue eyes made me feel like it was just me and him, but that was soon interrupted when I saw Carol grab Judith from me.

"I'll take her, you and Carl go with Rick, Daryl, Glenn, Maggie, and Abraham to take care of that small horde up a head. Carl and I listened to Carol and ran ahead to fight the walkers. Most were already slain but there were still at least a dozen more to take care of. I grabbed my knife and Carl grabbed his machete. He took out the walkers silently because who knows if any more are nearby. We took them on one by one. When we finally killed them all we turned around to head back until i felt something grab my leg causing me to fall to the ground. I looked down and saw a walker grabbing my ankle and opening it's mouth, ready for dinner. I struggled to find my knife, frantically searching for it, only to see that it dropped out of my hand when I fell and landed a few feet from where I was. I tried to grab my gun but the walker was just about to bite when a machete went into his skull and limply fell onto my leg. I wiggled my leg out of the walker's grasp and got up, grabbing my knife and sliding it into my leg holster then walking over to my savior and boyfriend, Carl. I cupped his face with my hands and kissed him sweetly, thanking him for saving my life. When we pulled away from the kiss I saw his eyes were red and had little tears running down his cheeks. He looked down, trying to avoid eye contact with me. I refused to let that happen, I lifted his chin and wiped his tears away with my thumbs. I kissed his nose then hugged him. He tightly wrapped his arms around me, pressing me closer to his body.

"I thought I lost you for a moment back there, we need to stop all these near death experiences from happening" he sighed. He kissed my forehead and then pulled away from the hug. He gave me another kiss on the lips. I turned so that I was standing next to him. He draped his arm over my shoulders and we walked back to the group. I walked back to them with my knight in shining armour.
