I walked side by side with Carl. No one in the group talked much as we were walking. I guess we enjoyed the silence, but some of us didn't. Abraham didn't. He thought that silence meant trouble so you could occasionally see him jump at the slightest sound. We walked for what felt like forever until Rick directed our attention to a sign. We all looked.
"This is what I was talking about, the sanctuary" he seemed happy. We all read the sign; Terminus, sanctuary for all, community for all, those who arrive survive. Terminus. What kind of name is that? I shook the thoughts from my mind and focused on walking again.
After a while a spoke to Carl, "how do you feel about this 'sanctuary'" I asked him.
He shrugged his shoulders and looked ahead of him, "I really don't know, but the thing is, I don't know about anything in this world now, just as long as I have you along with me," he smiled at me and grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers together. I smiled at him then looked ahead of us, focusing on our journey. We encountered another sign on our way; Terminus, approximately 5 miles ahead. I guess we obeyed the sign and kept walking. It was honestly so boring, just walking, not doing anything, but soon enough we were at the gates of Terminus. Carl and I pulled our hands away and kept a hand on our guns just as everyone else did the same. We were greeted at the gates by a man named Gareth. They brought us into a giant warehouse. I was scared to say the least so I grabbed Carl's hand and held on tight.
Gareth looked at us and spoke, "who are you? Names. You?" he pointed at Rick.
"I'm Rick. This is Carl, Morgan, Beth, Maggie, Glenn, Michonne, Daryl, Carol, Abraham, Eugene, Rosita, and Tara" Rick replied pointing to each of us.
"Now you see, things run differently here. First, we are going to have to confiscate all your weapons," Gareth said with a straight face. I squeezed Carl's hand tighter and looked over at Rick. He saw the terror and worry in my eyes because he mouthed "it's okay" to me. Rick obeyed and toke his weapons and set them on the ground in front of him. Everyone else did also except Daryl and Abraham."Is there a problem here?" Gareth asked with power in his voice, directing his question towards Daryl.
"Yeah, your not putting your filthy hands on my crossbow" Daryl replied with anger.
Abraham saw the seriousness in Rick's eyes as he looked at them both, and set his weapons down. Daryl refused. Gareth threatened him but he didn't move.
"Daryl," Rick said to him. He looked at Rick and finally obeyed."Now that you have obeyed, now to the second step. Housing, we like to keep our meat in a comfortable environment," Gareth said with a dark smile. I shot a look at Carl. Then at Rick.
"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN BY MEAT?" Rick yelled at Gareth.
Gareth didn't acknowledge his question and motioned for these big men over to us. Each man took to of us and directed us somewhere. Most likely the place of our death. We reached a train car and they tossed us in then shut the door and locked it. I ran over to Carl and just hugged him, holding on as tight as I could. We were destined to die. All of us. The whole group. All together.
