Imagine waiting for Demetri after he's been gone for a week on assignment only for him to come back and dance with you.
You sat on your bed amongst the other stuff that littered Demetri's room, the sound of rain filling the silence. Oh, how you wished a certain tracker's voice filled the silence instead. Normally, the sound of the rain was something that brought joy to you, the gray skies giving you an excuse to stay in and watch movies all day long with your mate, but today wasn't that case. Demetri had been on assignment for a little over a week now and you only just realized how much you and your body missed him.
With a sigh, you got up from your spot on the bed and wandered over to the one great big window in the room. You watched as the rain dropped onto the cobbled streets of Volterra, leaving their signature mark before being replaced by another. And another. And another. The sound of each drop resonated and gave a quite imbalanced beat, but to your ears it sounded like everything hit right on time. It either was a good thing to be able to hear those patterns or you have a terrible sense of rhythm. Or both. Probably both.
Your body began to sway to the imperfect beat of the rain, like you were dancing to no music. In all honesty, you could have put some on, but that would have ruined the moment. You continued your movements around the room, waltzing from one side to another. The feeling of the invisible music pulsed through your veins as you were swept away into your own head. As you twirled yourself around as if you had a partner, you were caught in someone's arms. With a little jolt, you bounded from the person only to look up and see Demetri's piercing red eyes staring back at you.
"Hello, cara mia." Demetri softly spoke, the Italian words gliding out of his lips.
"Hey, Dem." You whisper in return knowing full well he could hear you. You came in closer to him from where you had been previously standing, going in and hugging him. His cold marble skin still prominent through his clothes.
"Would you like to continue dancing, sweetness?" A small smile starts to grace your lips as you nod your head yes.
"That would be fantastic, kind sir." His red eyes start to twinkle with delight. He was planning something.
"How about we take this somewhere more magical?" Both of your eyes drifted out to the window where the rain hit Volterra. And before you could even open your mouth, Demetri whisked you away where you could feel the raindrops atop of your head. As your feet hit the cobblestone, he took your hand, and you two started dancing once more. The unconventional timing of the rain making it feel like it truly was: magical.
In the distance you swore you heard something sing in your ears but you let it drift to the back of your mind as you and your mate kept dancing. He twirled you around before letting you fall into his arms.
"I missed you." He said, carefully pulling you back up as if you two were still performing on stage.
"I missed you more, Demetri." And after those words were uttered, you both were lept back into the dance. Dancing your way through the night and you couldn't have wished for anything better.
Something nice and short for you guys :). Hope you liked it and will indulge me in more dumbass Twilight writing. ~ Stargirl
