I stared at the waiter. 30% discount. Nilingon ko si Hiram at mukhang kalmado s'yang tumitingin sa menu. He glanced up to the waiter and he grinned.
"Really? It's a good day for a discount. Count us in," ani Hiram.
Napasimangot ako at bumaba ang tingin ko sa menu. I ordered what I want.
Yeah. It's practical. 30% discount is a great offer. Sayang naman kung hindi namin kukunin. We just have to say that we're a couple.
Pagkakuha ng waiter sa order ko, ngumiti s'ya sa aming dalawa ni Hiram.
"Bagay po kayo, Ma'am at Sir," aniya.
Hindi ko sinasadyang mapangiwi. I looked at Hiram. Pumangalumbaba s'ya at tumingin sa waiter, may mapaglaro at malokong ngisi.
"Right? That's what I keep on telling her," ani Hiram at lumingon sa 'kin, kumikindat.
I rolled my eyes at him. Nagpaalam na ang waiter pagkatapos.
"It's uncomfortable whenever you say that I'm your girlfriend," sabi ko kay Hiram.
He looked at me and he chuckled. "You should get used to it now."
Right.
Nilibot ko ang tingin ko sa restaurant at nakitang mga couples ang nandoon. Siguro dahil doon sa promo.
Nang bumalik ang waiter namin, may dala na s'yang camera. He asked if he can take a picture of me and Hiram. Hiram said that it would be fine. Nang kumukuha na ng litrato ang waiter, sinabi n'yang maglapit pa kaming dalawa ni Hiram.
Hiram, being such a jerk, moved beside me and draped an arm over my shoulder. I got a whiff of his perfume and I think I was scowling when the waiter took a picture.
The waiter looked at me awkwardly.
"Smile naman po, Ma'am," aniya.
Bago pa ako makapagprotesta, nilingon na ako ni Hiram at mukhang tiningnan n'ya kung nakangiti ba ako. He innocently stared at me.
"Why aren't you smiling?" he asked before he brought both his hands to my cheeks and pinched them to make me smile.
"Let go," I told him but he grinned playfully.
Kumuha ng litrato ang waiter, nagpasalamat sa 'min, at lumayo na para iwan kaming dalawa ni Hiram.
"You're pretty when you smile. So smile often," aniya bago pinakawalan ang dalawang pisngi ko at bumalik sa upuan n'ya.
Uminit ang mga pisngi ko at napasimangot ako. Bumagsak ang tingin ko sa pagkain sa mesa.
Hiram really should check his words. But I can't tell him that. Because I know a part of me likes them.
