Devore grew up always attending her mother and father's parties. Or attending parties at the Malfoy Mansion, or at the Nott Mansion, or any other rich family her parents knew. Chanel always dressed her in the fanciest dresses, always styled her hair in the prettiest of curls. Her first party was when she was seven, and her father had turned their dining room into a beautiful gala. So the Yule Ball should've just been another party where she had to dress her best to impress people she didn't care about, but Devore was nervous.

She paced around behind the entrance of the stairway, nervously running her hands down the material of her emerald green, floor length dress that hugged her at the waist and had a slit that reached to her mid thigh. Her neck was laced with a simple necklaces with an emerald pendent and a silver snake ring, along with other silver rings, decorated her fingers. Her hair was pink straight and tucked behind her ears, revealing silver snake earrings. Her beauty was overshadowed by sheer nervousness. It had been a while since she presented herself in such class. She felt out of place. Devore used to be the girl who loved the attention and now all she wanted to do was hide from everyone.

"You look beautiful," a silky voice said from behind her. She turned around to see Hermione, seeing her dressed in a periwinkle blue dress that had ruffles all the way down the skirt. Her natural bushy hair was twisted in a braided updo that laid on her shoulder.

Devore's eyes widened. "Hermione Granger in a dress? I thought I would never see it."

Hermione cracked a smile. "Not true! Remember when we dressed up as princesses for that one Halloween?"

She went and grabbed her hands. "Yes, but that was before you had breasts. Now you're practically a grown woman."

She gasped. "Always so persistent, Dev." Hermione said and giggled. "Why haven't you gone down yet?"

Devore didn't want to admit she was nervous but it was written all over her face. She glanced behind the curtain and scanned all the students standing around with their dates. She saw Draco talking with Blaise and his other goonies, and she wished she was going with someone else. She let go of the curtain and turned back to Hermione. "Mum and dad used to tell me stories about their Yule Ball. She said it was the best night of her life because she went with him. I can't help but feel like I made the wrong decision."

Hermione looked shocked. "You mean Draco?"

She nodded and let out a laugh of disbelief. "Crazy,  right? The rich girl and the rich boy not being happy together. I've known him since I was a kid. I thought I was in love with him. I don't know what to believe anymore."

She softly smiled at her and grabbed her hands again. "It's okay to feel that way. You're just a girl, Devore. I'll admit I never liked you and Malfoy together because I know who you really are and you're the complete opposite of him. But if you feel like he's not the one for you, tell him."
