Chapter five

"We should get to the camp, it's almost midnight" Nicole pointed out, how did she figure that out? We all wondered as the three of us stared at her.
"It's the darkness, it speaks to me..."
"Ok" I answered her.

It was kind of obvious though, the night looked very gloomy with barely a star in the sky, the not so bright moon trying its very best to shed a visible path for us all but the tall trees which were native around here were wasting the effort...
I tried using this night to get me to forget what we just heard from Ariana as we journeyed aimlessly through the forest.

According to her, she was met this morning by some shady people, about four of them, they were part of a cult that has been dominating the camp ever since it crossed their territory right in this area. So Ariana, like every other ordinary person I know, told them "no, I don't want to be involved in that", which got the creeps a little pissed.  They started making generic threats like, "we will end you" and "you've made a huge mistake", which got Ari here, super nervous...
Which explains why she wasn't too happy this afternoon.
And those people looked like they were determined to shut her down too.

Moments later, we got joined by Emma who somehow survived with no scratch and like clockwork, we got spotted by a counsellor who was doing a patrol or something.
Lucky for us, we didn't get in trouble with him. The events of today were still on my mind though, if Ariana was today's victim, who could be next? or who was before her? How has no one found out about this?
I needed to talk to someone and Nicole came into my mind for some reason...
"Hey Nick, are you, bothered about this?" I asked her,
"Last time I was bothered about those traitors it put a smile on someone's face..." She answered with no difference in tone,
"Oh...wait, what was that?" I asked in clear surprise, was she among thee cult or something?
"They were the only friends I had, we did everything together, even tease helpless cry babies, till they messed up, became selfish and power-hungry all that trash, so I left them.."
"Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't know..."
"Eesh, don't be. It's the more cool way to learn a lesson" she said rather calmly,
"Hmm...wait, how did they betray you then?" I asked,
"You're asking way too many questions dork" I could tell she was somehow exhausted with me.
I went over to Ariana next,
"You ok? What happened back there?...
I asked with a bunch of other questions that, now that I think of it, could break someone's sanity into pieces.
But it shocked the energy out of me when she told me " Don't want to talk about..." Making me feel like a local monster!!

The next day was new, there was this new siren a very nice a thoughtful creature had installed at the middle of the camp like no one gives a care what you are doing! Anyway, the abomination was the first thing that screeched through my ears that morning forcing me to jump up to a sitting position and desperately trying to push my pillow into my ear canals. I wasn't the only person in that sensation though, the next thing I heard was Maddie screaming and she kept screaming like that like she was trying to kill somebody!!!
Hearing her voice like that and the screeching sound of the siren was tearing me up inside.
"Knock it off dink..." Nicole yelled at her,
Madison stopped yelling immediately like she got put on mute.
Emma came in almost as soon as the siren stopped bringing suspicion with her.
She looked natural with her pyjamas but something about the smirk on her face was unsettling though.
"Girls, thanks to me we will never wake up to noise!!" She said to us which left me asking her "what?"
Maddie asked her "w-what did you do to the speakers Emma?"
"Let's just say, you're all redeemed" Emma answered her.
"Good job Emms, now we can continue our nightmares," Nicole said mysteriously turning to face her back at us,
"Oh thank you! You know all I had to do was knock it out the moment it started..."
"Wait, you didn't sleep here?" Maddie asked with shock but I was worried about more reasonable Issues.
"Hey, guys what about the counsellors finding out?" I asked them but Nicole answered me negatively with
"Can you like not to be the sadist here?"
"Yeah not cool Lola, the counsellors will never find out about it" Emma supported Nicole's point,
"But how...?"
Emma gave Maddie a piercing frown and she kept shut immediately. I knew both of them had history and I was keen on finding out what it was, but whatever it was, it kept them close.
The two of them looked like they were talking with their eyes while Nicole went back to sleep.

Someone was coming and just as I had projected, it was Mrs Tola, the camp mistress that no one had seen a reason to admire, so I knew we were done for.
"Camp quill, to my office, NOW," she announced to us and left without another word.
We hesitated for a while, Nicole was still fake sleeping...
I got up first followed by Emma then Maddie,
"Uh-Nicole..." Maddie muttered causing Nikki to get up reluctantly while muttering words I didn't hear.
We were soon on our way and Emma was first to talk,
"This is gonna be fun girls. Our first crime together"

They were caught? Of course they we're, but maybe they'll go free...
