After the accident occurred at Diane's house, I called her every morning before I do my routine. Checking if she's doing okay. Sometimes, I want to join in her work but she didn't want me to do help her plant in her garden. Thinking it's just a waste of time for me to assist her. Still, her refusal cannot stop me from checking her. That's all I can do for her, as her friend.
I can't help thinking about what might happen to Diane while I'm working on the town. The person who did it didn't catch and that made me nervous about letting her alone at her house. Yeah, she felt fine because the intruder didn't physically hurt her but what if it will come back for her? Diane still working because she left a message, saying she'll be busy today so she will not pick me up this evening. I can't let my friend alone for a long hour that's why I'm doing my best to get done on everything I need to do outside.
While walking, going to visit her again as I always did. I saw a familiar face inside of the cafe near the book store. It was Miss Georgia. She didn't see me because she was too busy drinking coffee while typing on her phone. It seemed the nurse had a break time. It's my first time seeing her figure in this area and it looked nice to sight her like that.
I continued my walk again when someone passed on me. Made me realize I need to check Diane before she thinks to pick me here in case she finished her work immediately.
I wished her garden were a mess for now so I can make it up to her. I'm planning to buy desserts for dinner. She loves sweets but not as always, sometimes.
I bowed, trying to cover my face for not being noticed or disturbance the nurse. Yet, it failed. Someone shouted out my name behind me that made me turn around and face the person who called me.
Miss George greeted me with a bright smile of hers. Waved by using her left hand then signed me to come closer to her. I shouldn't waste my time looking at someone especially when I already know that person. Now, I felt I disturbed her sipping coffee moment. Maybe if I didn't, I might be half near to my best friend's house. Well, I had no choice but to join Miss Georgia for a sudden time. My confidence level to refuse a person's invitation is low as my life now.
"Come on in, (Y/N)" she offered, then held my hand to get inside with her. A hand of Miss Georgia was soft, I felt it when it squeeze while we're reaching her table. She let go of it then moved the chair for me like we're doing the couple gesture. However, this is like a kid and mother situation. I sat, holding each other's arms. Brushing it for the cold I felt inside of this store with nervousness.
"Good to see you again, (Y/N). How are you?" I looked at Miss Georgia who's already staring at me and waiting for my response. Fortunate that I don't startle in surprise because that will be awkward for us. She might think I'm uncomfortable, which is right.
"Normal like it used to be" A chuckles came on my mouth after I answer that. Keeping myself trying to be normal and not feel agitated towards her. There's nothing to be uneasy about unless I feel something for her. I lost my concentration that I didn't notice she's already looking at me.
Did I look away for long seconds?
"Good to hear. Oh. It's already lunchtime, we should eat something. My treat" Miss Georgia get the menu and look at the list. I coughed in cold I felt on my seat that caught her attention. It will make me stay longer in this store if I let her. I need to make reasons.
"I already ate, Miss Georgia" She nodded with calm on her face even I rejected the treat she offered. The thing is I didn't eat breakfast today and also lunch because I have a plan to take out some food for me and Diane before I can reach her house. Nurse Georgia looked convinced with my answer yet there's something about her reaction. I hope it's not the disappointment she felt.
