Chapter 2 💙Maddie's POV💙 We sat up and I brushed to dirt off my jeans. I climbed back up onto my horse and me and Paige rode back. We led the horses back the stables and groomed them. I followed Paige into the crop shack. That was where we kept all the freshly picked crops. She snuck some apples. She handed me two and I fed two of the horses. She fed the others. We went back inside. "Take those boots off girls," Marie, Paige's mom said. We giggled and kicked off our boots. We ran to Paige's room and collapsed on her bed. I sat up and went to my room to change. I changed out of my mud caked jeans and into a clean pair. "Maddie! Paige!" Marie yelled. We dashed out. "It's seems we have company, could you please go help them?" We both nodded and ran out. Together we ran to the driveway kicking up dirt. There was a shiny black limo waiting. It looked so out of place here. Especially sitting next to Paige's dads old pickup truck. The door opened and put stepped... "Mother!" I shrieked. I ran over and hugged her tightly. "Oh Maddie! You've changed," she said looking into my eyes. "Oh mother this is Paige!" I said. Paige smiled and waved. "I'm afraid that our country has been taken over by the enemy. We have nothing left," my mother said sadly. "You can live here m'am," Paige said shyly. "Oh sweetie that's a lovely suggestion, but there's no way we'd fit in here!" my mother said. "Please mom! This is my home! This is my life!" I begged. "We'll if its okay with her parents," my mom said. I gave her a huge hug and me and Paige led her inside. We gathered around the table for a meal and she's right I have changed
