THE BIRDS CAN BE HEARD chirping through the window at outside the house of Maya Ortle, the lover of Pietro Maximoff. Beams of sun surf from the window penetrate through the kitchen table as Kate Ambers pour her syrup on top of the pancakes Maya made earlier. The last piece of pancake that was already cooked served at Pietro's plate. The three of them eating breakfast peacefully when they heard a scream from upstairs.
"NOOO!!" she screams whilst gasping. She started to teared up realizing that it was all just a bad dream.
They all looked at each other confusingly, Pietro and Kate went upstairs to see what's going on. Pietro used his super speed to run upstairs, Kate was trying to catching up with him.
"Rube?? What's wrong?" Pietro asked Ruby, he's rushing to her when he saw her crying.
She looked at Pietro with teary eye and engulfed him in a hug and started crying. "It's them again. I dreamt of them again." she said with a sad tone.
"Oh Ruby, It's okay Im here" Pietro said. Kate who was just arrived later than Pietro, asking both of them "Hey, Is everything okay here???" asked Kate, curiously.
Pietro gave her an assuring looked "Yeah, she's okay, just a bad dream"
"Oh Okay. Good. Call me when you need anything, k?" Kate said, relieved.
She left and went back to the kitchen to eat her breakfast. Pietro turned his back at the girl and ask "Hey, what's wrong? Do you have a bad dream? You wanna talk about it?"
She nodded "It's the day, i dreamt of the day and them" she said and crying into his shoulder.
"I'm so sorry" she looked down with guilt because she thinks that she ruined his time with Maya.
"Why? Don't be sorry. It's not your fault at all. C'mon let's get you breakfast, okay?" He reassured her. Ruby nodded and they went to the door.
Maya was there when Ruby was having a nightmare so she ran upstairs to follow Kate and Pietro later on, only went face to face with Kate. She looked at Maya and gave her an awkward smile, Maya returned with a confused face. She went to the doorstep of Ruby's room and met with Pietro and Ruby.
"Hey, You okay?" She asked Ruby. She responded with an assuring smile, she nodded and returned it back to her. The three of them went downstairs for some breakfast.
All four of them sat at the kitchen table eating breakfast peacefully. Pietro kept glancing at his niece, he fretted about how the girls condition earlier. Ruby's nightmare has gotten worse since the day they found him. Pietro couldn't stop feeling worried sick for the girl.
1 year ago.....
After the whole occasion with the purple guy, Ruby went to Hawkins, Indiana to check on her boyfriend, Will. It was raining when she got there, after finishing putting on her raincoat, she get out of the car. As soon as she stepped out of the vehicle, she saw a familiar figure near the house.
She ran to the figure, knowing that it was her friend, Clint Barton "Clint! What are you doing here?"
She notices the girl presence, and immediately frown, the girl look puzzled and asked him what's wrong "Uhm, what's up? Why are you..." she hesitated to asked.
"Rube..." he glanced at the entrance of the house as he said so. She knew this as a sign to enter the house, Clint was about to stop her but she was faster. She run down the hallway, the man followed her.
She ran down the hallway and saw a body bag, bewilderment surrounding her gaze, and took a glanced at the adult besides her whose looking at her somberly.
"What's this? Why is this here?" she asked questioningly and nervously. Nervous for the answer that'll came out of the adult's mouth. She was expecting an answer, but no words came out. Feeling overly curious, she approaches the body bag cautiously with furrowed eyebrows.
The body bag was slightly opened, making the body inside visible to her. She looked behind to see Clint was looking down to his feet, feeling extremely sympathetic for the girl. She just lost half her family, now, it's him.
She take a look back at the body bag, she was now kneeling near the body, slowly embracing the cold corpse's body, and letting out a sharp scream as a wave of energy unleashed from her body. The people around the area would hear the shrieking, and the wave of energy she released making all the furniture around her fall.
She broke down in tears as she places her hand on Will's cold and pale cheeks.
"You promised"
Joyce came in to the scene and tried to take her away from her dead son. She take the girl to the car with her, to calm her down.
Joyce take her out of the house and engulfed her in a hug to calmed her down. The girl then cried harder "Sorry. I'm sorry I'm not there when it happened" she remarked as tears flooding her cheeks
"It was never your fault"
Joyce Byers cried, knowing her son died in front of her, without knowing any reason why.
Will Byers death was still unknown to this day but his loss was still unforgettable for the loved ones.
Ruby let out a tiny tears thinking about the day she loses him, or maybe losing all of the loved ones. She left the table and went to her room, leaving her foods unfinished.
Pietro glance at the girl making her way upstairs "Hey, are you sure, you're fine?"
