She had read it twice, still in disbelief at the writing she had just read, is this some kind of sick prank Arlert had done? An attempt in revenge against her?---Well she did hide his glasses for a full week before, the idea of it wouldn't be that far fetched, she nodded, agreeing with her logic, but as she scanned through her logic for any flaws, she had realized, young Arlert Jr. would never attempt such a prank, to mess with the identity of her father, no, he wouldn't do that he was too kind, but she knew someone who might've.
The bustling sounds of industrialization covered the whole capital of Mitras, ever since the end of the great Titan war, economy dwindled due to the lack of trading, the only nation left to trade with, the great nation of Hizuru had come to bad terms with Paradis a year back, due to the queen declining the offer of a marriage between her and the Ambassador's son, and had denied any trading ever since, due to this factories mass produced to keep up with the ever growing population, and now the once beautiful city of Mitras had turned into a intoxicating maze of factories and smoke.
She had never been in this area before, well she had, but never without strict supervision, as the two friends ran across streets and alleys she couldn't help but to notice the large amount of automobiles in the roads, of course she was already aware of automobiles it was one of perks of being royalty, but the thing that she wasn't aware of was that it was already available for the public.
"So why did you wanna go to the industrial zone?" Arlert darted his eyes left and right waiting to cross the street.
"The whole city is a industrial zone." she said while adjusting her hoodie making sure it covered her face.
"I know that, but why the densest part of it? I can't breathe without inhaling diseases!" --- she scoffs, even royalty like her wouldn't be so fussy about it, the boy next to her was always fussy about germs and diseases, back then she was able to work around that fact by being calm and well composed, but after what happened a few hours ago she just doesn't have the patience to deal with this.
"Shut up you germaphobe." She exhales before tugging his arm, "C'mon the street's clear now."
She walks briskly still holding his arm, she hears the faint sounds of royal guards running across the distant streets, 'Damn' she looks behind her, adrenaline zooms through her veins, she can't turn back now, it's too risky, if she had returned a few hours ago the punishment wouldn't be that severe, other than an hour of scolding and months of being grounded it wasn't all that bad, but now, not only would she get harsh treatment her friend would also too.
Once they had crossed the street she points to a nearby alley, her feet aches, these shoes wasn't made for long walks certainly not for running, she needs to resolve the problem immediately or they'll encounter some big problems sooner or later, albeit her companion is quite hesitant to enter a dark mysterious alley, he begs her to find a different spot but his opinion can wait later, her top priority is to deal with the burning soreness of her feet.
"C'mon Ymir, at least choose an alley that has light!" he begs her once more, out of all times he could've acted so annoying, he chooses a time where they're literally running away from dozens if not hundreds of guards!
"I don't know about you, Arlert, but I'd rather not spend the rest of my life locked up in a boring room!"
He winces, she thinks about feeling sorry, but it's his fault for being so annoying anyway.
She takes her heels off though Arlert seems worried about her walking on the streets with only the protection of her socks, the painful pressure on her soles begin to ebb as the cool night air sweeps through the alley.
"What now?" Her companion questions.
"Where do you live?" She looks around the location making sure there were no guards to be seen.
"Not too far from here--- why?"
"Your father, I've heard he was friends with Paradis' hero right?"
"Yeah, so?"
"I've got some questions to ask."
