PLEASE NOTE! I made this in 2022, 2 YEARS before s1 of Hazbin Hotel came out on Prime Video. The MC/(Y/n) is NAIVE, she will do stupid things because of that! I'm pretty chill but I have put up with complaining of the MC's actions...please just enjoy the story because her actions are all for the plot. Thanks, and I'm sorry if this is harsh.

~~(Y/N) POV~~

"There has been yet another body reported in our beautiful New Orleans. And like the last two dreadful murders, there is no sign of who this masterly killer may be or how he does what he's accomplished. Stay safe my listeners. Tuning out!"
Bzzzzzt! The scratch from the small radio recordings meets my ears as I get out of my head from listening to the old radio show from the 1930s.
Masterly killer, huh? I think while turning off the small, old radio while still holding the thin blanket against my frame. Sounds to me that he thinks the killer is great at what he does. I think with a/an (e/c) eye roll.
"Pretend to sleep." I quickly turning over on the cot after the voice in my head warns me.
Not half a minute later, the stairs to the attic drops down.
"Hey! Get your lazy ass up! Missy needs her breakfast cooked!" Kaiden, who's normally worse than this, shouts while throwing an old slipper at my cot, hitting me in the back of my head.
"Sorry." I reply, pretending to be tired as I grab the Walkman with the recordings on it and put it in my pocket.
My parents gave me up for adoption when I was born, they didn't think they were ready for a kid. My parents never even tried to get me back. My aunt Callie and her husband, Kaiden took me in. Unfortunately, my aunt Callie died from a car wreck when I was seven, leaving me with her husband.
I'm twenty-five now but Kaiden (my late aunt's husband) won't let me leave. He barely ever let me go when I had school when I was a kid and teen. I've been saving money with spare change and dollars that I've found from cleaning the house. Doesn't sound too useful but I've collected more than you would think over years.
The pot clang together as I grab them from the tidy cupboards before putting it on the stove.
I grab eggs, milk, utensil, cups, and plates before going and putting certain things on the table while the eggs start to cook. I stay quiet as my uncle helps his second wife waddle into the kitchen.
"Is that eggs?" She asks while looking at me from the table with disapproval.
"No, ma'am. I'm going to make French toast." I claim as I turn off the burner.
"French toast? No! Just give me a damn fruit cup for breakfast." Myla claims and I share a concerned glance to Kaiden.
I swallow the lump in my throat as I look at her. "I'm sorry." I stop as I share another look at the man. "we don't have any fruit cups. We never buy them." I explain to her.
"We...what?" Myla asks and I flinch at her tone.
"We don't have them." I say, clearing my throat. "We never buy them because we mainly get meals that are not the healthiest." I state while praying that I won't get slapped for speaking out.
"Then why aren't you leaving this damned house to go get us better stuff?" Myla asks in a harsh tone, surprising both Kaiden and myself. "I've got a child growing in me! I need to make sure that they're perfect!" She claims making me look towards the black haired man.
"Myla, you know I'm not allowed out of the house." I say while tossing the eggs into the trash, wishing they would've let me save it for myself.
"Sweetie, we can go get food later-"
"If you do not let her leave this house so I can calm my damn cravings, I will kill her and then you and have an even quieter house." Myla states, making me quirk an eyebrow at her new tone towards her husband.
Kaiden looks towards me doubting me before he sighs. "Alright. She'll be back soon." He claims with a harsh glare towards me as he hands me a good bit of money.
An excited spark goes through me as he hands it over and leads me to the front door.
"If you're not back...in an hour. You will not eat anything besides for old mashed potatoes for two weeks." Kaiden claims while glaring at me.
"How will I get there?" I ask, hoping he'll give me the keys to his car since Myla was nice enough to teach me when she was nicer (before she married Kaiden but was his girlfriend).
"You remember how to ride a bike, don'tcha?"
The cold winter air whips my cheeks as I pedal. I fucking hate that man. I think angrily.
"Then leave. You're finally out of the house and can get away. He even was kind enough to provide you with fare money!" The voice in my head suddenly says, making me nearly jump.
"Geez, Radio! You're gonna give me a heart attack if you don't warn me that you're gonna talk first." I huff while getting back on the side of the road, the small red wagon clambering back on as well.
"Hello there, my little fawn. Still as fiery as ever before." Radio claims in a teasing tone to me.
"And you're still as rambunctious as well." I mock before raising my hands and blowing warm air into them as I still pedal. "Can't believe they're sending me out in this weather." I scoff while getting into the parking lot of the convince store.
Radio's oddly silent as I enter the store and grab a basket.
"Do you want to leave that place, (Y/n)? Or do you want to live there until you rot?"Radio asks while forming my shadow, his strange form smiling up at me.
"Of course I do, Radio. They treat me awful and I've hated being there since my aunt died." I remark in a whisper as I put a few vegetables in the basket.
"Then do what I say." He commands before elongating his shadow. "Follow me." He states while making it turn a corner.
Damn you, Radio. I think with a sigh before following nonetheless.
"Grab this bag," he instructs before starting to lead me around the store. "and lastly, one of those." Radio claims while stopping me in front of a clear counter.
"A pocketknife?" I whisper in confusion before he hums a reply.
"There's awful people out there, darling. You'll need to defend yourself!" He claims while I look down at the variety of blades. "Hurry, we've only got around thirty minutes left before Kaiden starts looking for you!" He says and I quickly call over the cashier before getting a small but sturdy looking one. "Put everything on the back and stay in the shade. I'll pack the bag for you." Radio says as I pay for the few items that I bought.
I quickly walk out of the store and go to my locked bicycle before starting for the bus station. "Where will I even go, Radio? I've only ever been here." I shout through the wind whipping my fave as I pedal quickly.
"New Orleans is beautiful! I think you saved enough money for a ticket there!" He calls before his shadow grips the wagon. "Careful! Me and your stuff nearly fell off."
"Sorry!" I shout back to him before stopping the bike hard and then rushing inside the bus station after Radio's shadow tossed me the book bag. "What's the soonest bus?" I ask while slamming the bus fare down on the counter.
"What about New Orleans? We could do a lot in New Orleans! We could find that old station that the radio host did his shows in!" Radio claims quickly and I look at the confused woman before I sigh.
"How much to New Orleans?" I ask and she quickly taps at her computer.
"Forty dollars and twenty-five cents." She claims and I bite my lip while looking down at the thirty dollars that I've got left. I've only got thirty. I think in defeat as I look down at the money in my hands.
"Stall her and let the demon do his thing." Radio states before sending my (his) shadow off somewhere.
"Do you know what all is in New Orleans?" I ask the woman who sighs.
"Here's a pamphlet since it's one that people travel to a lot." She states before starting to point and show me pictures from the folded papers.
       "How's a twenty do?"
"Great!" I say before sneaking the twenty and adding it to the thirty dollars already on the counter. "When does it leave?" I ask eagerly while glancing to the clock on the wall.
"Five minutes." The woman claims before quickly starting to type on her computer.
Brrrrzzzt! The printer sounds off before she hands over the paper ticket and my change.
"Hurry now! It doesn't wait!" She calls after me as I rush off to the busses parked in the back.
       "He's here. Run!"
"(Y/N)!" I hear Kaiden's angry shout as I round the corner while starting to run for the moving bus.
"Shit! Shit! Shit! Shit! Shit! Shit!" I curse out while running beside the bus that's quickly gaining speed. "HEY!" I yell while hitting the side. "OPEN THE DOORS!"
"(Y/N)! GET BACK HERE, YOU LITTLE SHIT!" Kaiden's yell faintly meet my ears as I dare not look back.
"HEY!" I shout again, catching the attention of a man on the bus who quickly stands and shouts to the driver.
Please, please, please, please. I beg in my head before the doors open and the bus slightly slows.
"I'LL FIND YOU! I PROMISE I WILL! AND THEN I'LL KILL YA!" Kaiden's voice calls to me as I grab the bus handle before pulling myself inside as the doors close.
I did it. I think as I catch my breath while falling back and sitting on the steps.
"Sorry 'bout that, missy! I'm a lil deaf on the ears!" The olde bus driver, who looks far too old to drive, claims with a chuckle as I turn my head to look at him.
"Thanks for letting me on." I say while handing him my ticket and then heading to an open seat. I put in the new pair of earbuds into the old Walkman before leaning back in the seat.
Snow softly kisses the window as the bus moves along the road, making me smile at the sight.
       "New Orleans, here we come."
      "Here we come indeed."
