What if

"Oh merlin- what the fuck you two!?" Sirius shouts as he opens the door and sees Reg and I. "I was only gone for a few moments!"

"Sorry." Reg mumbles as he gets up and throws me my clothes. I quickly get dressed, same as Regulus as Sirius turns around and mumbles to the wall about how he didn't need to see that.

"Sorry, Sirius. We kind of thought you would be out a little longer." I say to him awkwardly.

"Yeah, I noticed that." Sirius mutters bitterly. "You could've at least locked the door or.. I don't know, put a sock on the door?"

"What?" Regulus asks him, his nose scrunched up in confusion at the odd choice of words his brother used.

"Nevermind, you should really start looking into muggle terms so you'll understand what I'm saying." Sirius says to his brother without turning around. "Are you guys dressed yet?"

"Yeah, turn around." I say to him.

"I don't know if I trust you." Sirius mutters before he turns around. A breath of relief exits his mouth as he sees us both dressed.

"Why would we want you to turn around and-"

"Reg, don't finish that." I interrupt him.

"Okay, well I think that you two have had enough of me now." Sirius says to us, avoiding both of our eyes as he does.

"We scared him away, Evie." Regulus jokingly says to me. His brother rolling his eyes.

"Sorry again, but uh- see you later?" I say to Sirius.

"I'll knock three times before coming in. Andromeda might come by later too but I told her to knock three times. Don't let anyone else in, okay?"

"Yeah, yeah. We know what to do." Regulus mumbles sarcastically. "Can we go back to what we were doing before-?"

"Regulus!" I say, slapping him on the chest and blushing. Sirius shakes his head, throws his hands in the air dramatically and leaves the room muttering something under his breathe.

"Bye brother!" Regulus calls out to him before he opens the door.

"You probably scarred him!" I say to Reg when we're alone again.

Regulus shrugs his shoulders adds smiles at me. "He'll survive.. or get us back."

"Or both." I add. Regulus laughs.

"Yeah, probably both. It is Sirius we're talking about here."

Regulus and I joke about how Sirius might get back at us when technically Reg won't even be here, and he is supposed to be dead. Plus he can't tell anyone except Andromeda what happened. Anyone else he tries to tell, they wouldn't believe him. Who would believe him when they tell him I was messing around with another guy? Probably no one because everyone knows I'm so in love with Regulus.

"I don't want you to leave." I mumble as we're both laying in bed. He leans over and kisses my forehead sweetly as he says, "I don't want to leave either." 

"Can't we work together on the horcruxes? That way you can stay here with me." I mumble. Even though I know it's not likely, I still can't help but ask him. I hate when he leaves. I always get this horrible feeling in my gut. This time might be different now that I know he's at least staying somewhere warm and safe with a roof and a bed. I just wish he could stay with me so I always know where he is, have him with me. 

"I don't want you to think that I don't want to come back... but I don't want me coming back to put you and our child in danger. Or my brother, or our friends for that matter." 

"I know." I sigh, resting my head on his chest. "I just miss you a lot." 

"Oh love, I miss you so much it's not even funny. I want nothing more than to come back to you but I'd like to make sure it's safe before I do." Regulus whispers softly. 

I groan and roll my eyes but I know that he's right. He just wants to make sure that him coming back won't put anyone he cares about in danger. I admire that about him because the way he loves so strongly, and wants to protect everyone, even if that means he has to sacrifice his own happiness. 

"How about we talk about it for now?" Regulus suggests. "We could talk about what would happen if I did come back." 

I nod my head and take a deep breathe. "How would our friends react when they find out that you're still here?" 

"I'm sure Remus would be shocked but we were never that close so I'm assuming he wouldn't be as mad as..."

"James." I cut him off. 

"He's going to be mad. Very mad that I lied and faked my own death." Regulus mumbles. 

"I didn't think you guys were that close though. I mean, I knew you were getting a long and were friends but I didn't know you guys were close enough that he'd be very mad at you for this."

"He's Sirius' best friend.. and I honestly used to hate him because I thought he took my brother away from me." Reggie sighs. "When Sirius and I started to get close again, I decided that I would at least try and stop hating James because I don't want to lose Sirius again."

"Right, but I didn't know you guys were close. I mean, we were always together and I-"

"Evie, are you jealous or something?" Regulus asks me, raising an eyebrow at me. 

"No-"

"You are the love of my life. James and I are friends, okay? You have nothing to worry about."

"Except him killing you himself when he finds out, apparently." I jokingly say, causing Regulus to laugh too. 

"Yeah, there is that problem." 

"Great." I say.
