a long night

Emily's POV:
before the team and I got on the jet I went to check if I have everything in my bag. I wasn't too focused on what Garcia said about the case to be honest, all I could think of was last night. last night I had a huge fight with a girl I've been seeing for a while. she said that I can't keep all my feelings for myself and that it's ruining everything that we could have. honestly? she's not that wrong. I've been bottling up most of my feelings since I was a teenager. sometimes I wish I could find someone who wouldn't judge me and just listen to me.

I've tried a few therapists in my life but it's not for me, I always lie to them because I'm afraid they'll  judge me as well. I wish that I could just walk up to someone random and tell them everything I've ever been through.

after I checked my bag and took it with me to the jet, I searched for the quietest place. I looked around and saw that Hotchner was sitting alone so I went to sit in front of him. he was reading a book, probably trying to take his mind off Haley's death. "Hi Prentiss." he said calmly as he was closing his book and looked at me, keeping one finger inside the book so he won't lose the page he just read. "Hi Hotch." I said with a small smile.

Hotcnher was a very private guy. he always had things in control and I believe that the whole team trusts him with their eyes closed. he never shared a lot about his personal life which made him a little mysterious. sometimes Morgan, Garcia and I would bet what he does when we're not at work.

we talked for a few minutes and then he went back to his book and I tried to rest. luckily he stayed quiet and I had my few minutes of rest until I felt a soft touch, a hand in my shoulder, it was Hotch's, letting me know that it's time to go through the victimology.

Garcia updated us about the victims and Hotch assigned our positions. Reid and Morgan are going to interview William's family, JJ and Dave are going to interview Henry's family and Hotch and I are going to interview Daniel's family.

honestly, I'm glad I'm working with Hotch today, I know he won't bother me with questions about how I feel even if knows something is wrong. he knows how hard it is to open up to someone I don't think he ever shared his feelings with anyone after his divorce.

when we landed we all split up and went to the victims families.

Hotch and I got to one of the SUVs, he drove and I sat in the passenger's seat.
"did you sleep well last night?" he asked me, his question surprised mr a bit, I can't really explain why but I imagined that the ride is just going to be quiet.
"um, no not really." I answered, it was a pretty weird question but I guess as a Unit Chief he just wanted to check on me.

we arrived at Daniel's parents house a little bit earlier than expected. We both got out of the SUV and walked to the house. I knocked on the door and an old lady opened it, you could see how worried she was about her son. "Hello Ms. Gray, I'm SSA Emily Prentiss and this is SSA Aaron Hotchner, we came here to ask some questions about your son."

"yes yes of course come inside." the lady said and welcomed us in. it seemed like Daniel grew up in a good place, for now nothing odd stood out to me.

even after we interviewed them nothing was weird about them, Hotch and I walked out of their house and got in the SUV. "so, what do you think?" I asked him and he thought for a moment "I believe there's no way they were a part of it but unfortunately they didn't provide us any new information." he shrugged and I nodded.

while we were driving it looked like he wasn't driving to the police station, we didn't get too many cases from there but I'm pretty sure I still remember the way. "Hey are you sure this is the way to the police station?" I asked, "I thought since we started early, finished early and for now no one told us about something wrong I could grab us some coffee." he had a small smile of his face, I'd barely see him smile but he does have a nice smile, he should smile more.
"that's nice Hotch, thank you." I said with a smile.
