Chapter 1: A Brand New Life (Literally)

Hello everyone and welcome to a new Utaite fanfiction created by me and my lovely friend, Nyankochii4 I hope y'all enjoy this new story and please leave comments cuz I love to read them!

An annoying sound fills the room without warning, making Amai groan in annoyance and start hitting his bedside table, trying to find the alarm to shut it off. He wanted to sleep in more! But no, his stupid alarm just had to go off! But, one of them had to make sure they weren't late to college..

Once Amai hit the button to turn off the alarm, he stayed laying in bed for a few more moments, contemplating if he should really get out of bed or not. Ultimately, he decided to get up. He made his way to the bathroom and did his usual routine. Afterwards he went to his roommate's bedroom.

"Nanase-san! Wake up! College starts in like..." Amai looked over to Nanase's alarm. "Twenty minutes!" Amai walks over to the bed, where the man in question laid sleeping. Amai huffs at the lack of response and begins to shake him while calling out his name.

Whining as he was shaken, Nanase turns his back to Amai, somehow still trying to sleep. "Still tired...don't want to leave...bed warm..." And outside was too cold!

Before Amai could shake him more, Nanase takes Amai's arm and drags him onto the bed so he has something warm to snuggle with. "Just five...more minutes...."

Amai, normally, would be fine with this. Nanase was like his big brother after all, and the two were close. But he couldn't afford to be late to class again! And he knew Nanase couldn't either!

"Nanase-san! The school is ten minutes away and you still have to get ready! C'mon! If you get up now, I'll buy dinner!" Bribing with food would hopefully help. Thankfully, Amai's family was well off so he didn't struggle through college very much, plus he could get things for Nanase who wasn't as well off. "Or even that sequel to "Fortune Lover" if you wake up on time all week!" He was going to buy the sequel anyways, the original had just been too good for him to not. But Nanase didn't need to know that!

"...Promise?" Peeking his head out of the blankets he tried to burrow beneath too, Nanase stares at the younger, slightly more away. The food was very tempting. "Only a week...?" Maybe he could do it if it was only a few days!

"Yes! We can't afford to be late again! We can get takeout from that restaurant you wanted to try out!" Amai agrees easily, desperate to get Nanase to wake up. "And I'll get the game on Friday if you wake up all week long! Promise!" And Amai never breaks promises!

Crawling out of his bed finally, Nanase stretches and turns to Amai. "Why are you still sitting there...? Let's get ready." That was enough to pump the older full of energy as he started digging for his clothes, changing even before Amai left his room.

"Bakanase-san! Don't change while I'm still here!" Amai scrambled out of the bed and out the room while shouting at Nanase. He went into his own room and changed into a simple T-shirt and jeans. It was just college after all. When he got out to their little living room, he saw Nanase on the couch, looking like he was about to fall asleep again. "Nanase-san! Get up! No more sleeping!"

"You were taking too long. Mou, it doesn't take that long to style your hair. We're not going anywhere fancy." Nanase yawns, blinking his eyes before running a hand through his messy hair he didn't even bother brushing properly.

"I was just changing my clothes!" Amai whines and marches over to the door where his shoes were. He slips them on and without waiting, he leaves. He smiles to himself as he hears Nanase run to catch up to him.

"Oi! Don't walk so fast!" Running while still trying to slip his shoes on, Nanase weakly glares at his roommate. Even just running a little had him winded, trying to take a few deep breaths. That was what he got for mostly being a hermit his whole life.
