Before The Duty - The Maid's Power

"Well? What do you have to say for yourself, Noelle?" Jean asked, to the Maid-Knight standing in front of her desk with her head bowed down.

"My sincere apologies, Grandmaster Jean...! I... There was nobody else that's nearby, I thought I could help..."

"You could've gotten injured, rushing in to help like that. As for now, you're excused."

"U...Understood."

Noelle then spent the rest of the day doing her morning training routines which were running laps around Mondstadt, and performing a hundred push-ups. Then she helped in cleaning the Knights' HQ when Stormterror attacks (Kaeya told her to, as to not let her face Stormterror solo), after which is when she saw a glance of him.

A blonde haired outlander, conversing with Jean and Lisa in the office. Beside him is a small fairy-like creature that seems to follow him wherever he goes.

She learned that the traveler has assigned himself with the adventurer's guild, and sometimes went out on missions with the Outrider Knight, Amber.

Days passed, and Amber has a mission to investigate Falcon Coast for increased Hilichurl activity. Noelle knew about this, as she witnessed Amber getting the information from another blonde outlander, this time the outlander is a girl.

Knowing that something is off, Noelle took her greatsword and followed Amber as she set out to Falcon Coast.

Amber was ambushed by a group of hilichurl crossbowmen, and a wooden shieldwall mitachurl, as well as a Hydro Abyss Mage.

"She fell for it!"

Amber tried to fight them off as she is still mid-air using her bombs that she got from Klee, the Spark Knight.

The bombs took care of the hilichurls, but isn't too effective in destroying the Mage's hydro shield.

"Lady Amber!" Noelle shouted, as the Mage shoots out a ball of water that hits Amber, shooting her down to the ground, the impact injuring her.

Noelle then descended down the hills, and landed on the coastline. Amber turned her gaze to see the Maid-Knight running for her.

The Abyss Mage chuckled as it looked at Noelle, before teleporting itself close to her.

Noelle just summoned her greatsword, and flicked her free left wrist, before charging ahead.

With the power of geo, she managed to conjure a shield to destroy the hydro barrier, only at the same time the mage caused a strong torrent that deformed Noelle's shield, knocking her back and causing her to drop her greatsword. She landed right next to Amber, who looked at her.

"N...Noelle! Am I glad to see you...!"

"Please leave the rest to me!"

"W...What!? Noelle, that thing is out of your--"

But then Amber widened her eyes, as Noelle took the warbow beside her, which belonged to Amber, that she dropped during the fall.

The Mage rides a coursing wave toward Noelle. Amber looked away as the Mage rushed at her in a fast speed, but then took a look again when she heard shots being fired from her bow.

Noelle fires a single arrow that pushes the mage back a few feet. Astounded, she then readied 3 arrows just as the Mage recovered. It approached Noelle only to be shot by the three geo-infused arrows, which created hydro crystals beside it.

Noelle stood up, and gave the bow back to Amber before facing the Mage again, which, now desperate and out of energy to control hydro, is running towards Noelle.

Noelle then felt geo energy coursing from her vision to her right gauntlet, causing her to instinctively run towards the charging mage, trying to hit her with it's wand. However, Noelle sidestepped it and managed to land a punch to the Mage, sending it flying to a rock, and disintegrate into ashes after it slumps down to the sand.

Noelle then walked towards where her greatsword landed, took it and stored it away.

"N...Noelle, that's just incredible!"

"I... It's nothing big, Lady Amber! My body just moved... To protect you, that is!" Noelle is at loss for words.

She escorted Amber back to the HQ, and received another scolding from Jean, but also a little praise, as she doesn't want to imagine what will happen if Mondstadt doesn't have an Outrider.

Noelle walked out of the office, only to bump into someone.

"Ah, my apologies--"

"It's alright. I was in a hurry..." It was that male outlander, who wanted to speak to Jean about something.

Noelle overheard what they are talking about. The Outlander has become an Honorary Knight of Favonius by Jean's authority.

She would spend her next training with him afterwards... As well as several hardships before that fated duty.
