"hoodie is sulking" 
"glasses seems so sad"
"but he is always sad tatum!" 
"but finely he looks suuper sad" 

Eugene sighs, {they're talking about me again..}

It is pretty normal, sitting on the swing, by himself..just him and his thoughts. 

another sigh left eugenes mouth 

{do they even..like me?}

{why..can't i like..me?}

{im useless-}

"h-hey! uh eugene?" a boy said as he sat on the empty swing next to the sulking eugene.

"w-wah?! LUKE?" eugene jumped, he wasn't expecting anyone to come up to him, specially him!

"im sorry, i just saw that you looked sad so i just came to say hi.."

"oh.." said eugene. 

There was a awkward silence for about 10 seconds until luke spoke, 
"whats on your mind...?" he smiled, hoping to make the awkward boy a bit more comfortable and reassured. 

eugene swang his legs back and forth like child, "w..well.." he stuttered

"luke..?" 

"yeah?" 
"h..how do you l..like yourself..?" 

Luke saw the sad expression on eugene when he said that.

"well.." luke thought for a moment, 

{what do i even say to him, i dont wanna make him sad even more..} 

Eugene didn't get a response which made him question probably all of his life choices. He began to feel really embarrassed about what he said, 
"i..im sorry! i didn't..mean to make you uncomfortable.."

luke shook his head, "no no! thats not it.."

"huh..?" eugene looked at him, tilting his head.

"you said-well asked, how do you like yourself..and well, the answer isn't really easy" 

"y..yeah.." -EG

"But, maybe you can try to think about things about yourself that you like?" 

Eugene looked away, thinking.

{i hate..this..}

Eugene buried his face into the palms of his hands, "i..i don't know..! im sorry.." 

luke began to worry about the boy.

"hey its gonna be okay..i promise, just look at me for a moment..please?" 

luke placed his hand on eugenes shoulder trying his best to comfort his friend.

Slowly eugene face turned towards luke.

As he locks eyes with him, he saw the genuine worry in his eyes, and a soft smile..

{my face..feels warm..}

"you know, i like your eyes." 

"w..what?"

{why did he..say that? Why do i feel so weird!}

"yeah eugene! you're so cool you know?"

{.....}

"you're just...saying that.."

lukes expression changed into a much more serious one, his voice getting a bit louder

"but i mean it! you're such a cool friend eugene, you're kind and so mysterious! did i mention how cute you are too?" 

......

"c...cute?" eugene got a bit tense and flustered, his heart palpitating ever so fast, and his stomach feels weird. It's an unusual feeling

"w..well yeah! you are cute" luke felt the need to run away at that moment. In his mind he is scolding himself for saying that last part. 

{what if i made him uncomfy..god} thought luke. 

but that wasn't the case at all, eugene wasn't uncomfy, he just didn't experience such feelings before.

"n..no one called me cute before.." smiled eugene, "t..thank you.."

Luke smiled even brighter, a feeling of accomplishment took over him. Knowing he made his friend smile was something that he was really proud of. He giggled, 

"im glad you're smiling again!" 

eugene smiled increased, "y..yeah.."

"oh! and about the whole liking yourself thing, it'll take time! I know how it feels to feel unconfident about yourself, but trust me when i say this, there are alot of things to like about you and im sure one day you'll see it!" 

Eugene listened to lukes words like he was listening to some teacher.

"and know that im here okay? im glad you talked to me about how you feel" 

hoodie laughed softly, "t..thank you luke! and im..glad i talked to you about it too..I mean it.." 

"Ahaha ofcourse! also, wasn't there two kids here before?" 

"huh..?" eugene looked infront of him. 

{they're gone..i didn't..realize..] 

"y..yeah! but they probably left, i was paying attention to you so...i never noticed."

Luke felt his heart skip a beat for a moment.

"me..too but it would've been hella embarrassing if they over heard us right?" 

eugene laughed, "yeah!! ahaha super embarrassing!"

-later in the evening, both boys were ready to head home, luke suggested that they go together to which eugene had no problem agreeing too.
