Many people don't think. Don't think about themselves or others. Don't think about the affects or the consequences. Some don't think about how others feel. Some don't think about they feel themselves.

It makes Herbs stomach twist.

The way Sparkling attends anyone with gentle care, yet can't take care of himself on his own. How Sparkling puts anyone, even a stranger, first. How Sparkling doesn't think twice before offering help. How Sparkling gives and gives and never takes. How he refuses to take. And how much he offers to give.

It's concerning.

"It's not even a problem Herb!"

Herb frowns.
There he goes again.

"Sparkling, dear, please come home."

It's the fourth time that week Sparkling stays up all night to help cover files for Espresso. Running with only a few energy drinks, coffee from Espresso himself, some whiskey shots, and two bagels. For the whole day.

"Herb, I just need to read over these last three files! Once Espresso comes back with Madeleine, he won't have to overwork himself! Plus I just need to-"

Herb groaned, not wanting to hear Sparkling blabbering the same paragraph.
"Cut the bullshit Sparkling! You're clearly tired, Espresso didn't even ask you to do this shit! Come fucking home, dammit!"
Yelled Herb, gritting his teeth at every word. Herb isn't the guy to get mad, but he can't continue to look at his lovers dark eyebags that could so easily be avoided.

"..oh...." a pause of silence stood between him and Herb from the other side of the phone. "...okay."

"Sparkling-Sparkling- forgive me, please do, it's just.." He stopped, trying to think of the words he desperately wanted to spill, but can't. Shit.

"I know-I know, if anything, I'm sorry, Herb.." Murmured Sparkling. You could hear how Sparkling shifted around, putting papers away and how he quickly lifted some sort of coat around his neck. "I'll be home in around 10 minutes."

"..." Even though both apologized, something still felt rough.

"Don't hang up." Said Sparkling, opening the door of his car, getting in and starting the motor.

"Okay." Herb whispered. Laying down onto the bed both shared. Looking over to the empty side of the bed.
"I missed you, you know."

Sparkling sighed over the phone, barely audible. "I know..me too."

"Why are you like this sometimes Sparkling? You do know people can do things on their own? Especially Espresso!"

As much as it hurt Herb, it pained Sparkling.

"I can't help it Herb. I can't help myself, so I'll help others while I'm at it. Just..can we talk about it another time?"

"Good idea, I'm in the mood to hug the shit out of you either ways." Chuckled Herb.

"Pftt. How was your day?"

Herb thought about it for a moment.
"It was good. Yours?"

"Good, too."

....
Just as Herb was about to question the awkward silence, he heard the front door struggle.

"...is that you on the door?"

"Yeah it's me. I'll hang up."

Herb saw the screen return back to his homescreen, which was shut to a pitch black screen. Waiting for Sparkling.

The door came shut, footsteps grew louder and the door to their shared room opened.
"Hey."
Herb glanced over. Scooting over, feeling the cold fade into his skin.
"Come, sleep with me." Herb requested, patting down the empty spot, preserved for Sparkling.

Sparkling nodded, gently smiling. Taking off his coat and his shirt, dressing himself into more comfortable clothes.

Soon, he meet himself next to his lover.
"Hey."
Herb cupped a hand to Sparkling face, admiring and watching Sparklings cheeks grow red.
"Hi."

Not long after, their small talk started to droop, their eyes felt heavier by the minute.

"Herb?"

Without an opportunity to move, he assumed the quiet snores and peaceful breathing was Herb sleeping. He smiled. For the last time that day, then drifting himself to sleep.

Feeling welcomed. Feeling good, Sparkling slept. With Herb in his arms, just the both of them.

And none of them wanted to to get up. Just them in the blint of night. Foggy sky and full pure bright moon. A nirvana blue corrupted the city sky, and stars glimmering like jewels.
Maybe someday or sometime, somewhere far away, both of them wouldn't have to worry about anything. Just their love and bond.

Just them together.
