Chapter 12

Tom

Jesus, fuck.

I've been sitting here for 15 minutes just thinking about Doug and the way his lips were on my skin. I'm still in shock and just thinking to myself how I can get him to do that again, when Judy comes up to my desk, motions over to her desk, and mouths follow me.

"Uh- hey Judy."

"Okay. No time for small talk. What happened? Why do you look like you just caught a glimpse of heaven?"

"It's Penhall."

"Of course it is."

"Shut up, Judy. We have another date planned for tonight and...mmm nevermind."

"Hey. You can't say that and then not say the ending. What is it?" She says curiously. I show her the left side of my neck. She gasps.

"You're telling me that Doug Penhall did that?" She asks quickly.

"No, I did it to myself. Yes, it was Doug." I turn and steal a glance of him. I can't help but think about how dreamy he is. The shape of his perfect lips, the slight curl in his hair, and how caring he is.

"Well, that's all I had to ask you. I was going to tell you that he's a great kisser, but you've already figured that out, huh?"

"Shut up, Jude." I say, annoyed.

Doug

I tried to look like I was working, but it's kind of hard considering what just happened. Judy brings Tom over to her desk and it seems like they are talking about me. When he finally walks back over, he looks annoyed.

"You okay, Tom?" I ask, concerned.

"Yeah. Judy is just being annoying."

"Yeah, I get that."

It was almost 12:30 so I ran upstairs and grabbed my sandwich. When I got back down to my desk, there had been a note left on top of all my paperwork. All it had was a heart and Tom's signature like some kind of cheesy Valentines Day card. I smiled brightly at the simple note. I looked over to Tom's desk, seeing that he was smiling at the expression on my face.
