••nomi giggled as she laid in jack's childhood bed. she was on facetime with meli as they gave each other hauls of all of their christmas gifts.
spending christmas with jack's family was probably the most heartwarming experience she's ever had. she was surprised at how quickly they took her in and nomi couldn't help but to get emotional as they all sat in the living room and went around opening gifts. it was like she was in those white christmas hallmark movies.
at first she was stressed out about being there and it could've been for the fact that nomi wasn't very close with her own family so, nomi felt like she had gotten another chance with his, and didn't want to screw anything up.
"wait, oh my god nomi. what the hell is on your finger?" nomi blushed and lifted up her hand showing off the big rock on her finger. "relax, he didn't propose or anything. it's a promise ring."
"if that's a promise ring i can't imagine what the engagement ring would look like." meli teased and nomi was surprised at the fact she wasn't freaking out at the mention of jack actually proposing. she quickly shook off the thought knowing it was too early and too much of a crazy idea considering his lifestyle. i mean he was a rapper for god's sake there was no way marriage didn't intimidate him.
"nomi?" meli calls out snapping her fingers as her friend spaced out.
"huh? i'm sorry. i was just thinking."
"it's cool don't worry. can i call you back? urban calling me."
nomi gasped dramatically, "you're gonna hang up on me for a white man?"
"are you gonna suck my toes?"
"ewww. you nasty bitch get off my phone." nomi cringed ending the call and cutting off meli's laughter.
moments later, jack walks in with a smile on his face and his car keys in between his fingers. "hey, baby come on." he says going to the side of the bed and offering her his hand, "let's go for a drive for a bit."
"nooo. it's cold as hell outside."
"you've gotten way too use to atlanta." he shakes his head and places his hands on his hips in feign disappointment. "you forgot your roots or sum'?"
"ugh fine." nomi sighs standing up and grabbing her jacket, "can i at least know where?"
"no. that would ruin the surprise." jack says leading her downstairs and out the house. they walk to the car and she gets into the passenger seat as he starts the car up.
"when was the last time you talked to your dad?"
nomi shrugs her shoulders continuing to scroll through her phone, "i don't know. a few years. why are you asking?"
jack didn't answer, as he continued to drive she occasionally glanced up to check the area. around the fifth time she lifted her head up she furrowed her eyebrows recognizing the route. "jack." she warns turning her head to look at him, "hell no. turn the fucking car around."
"nomi-"
"jack!"
"hear me out, baby." he says pulling in the driveway. "i talked to him and he misses you like hell. talk things out."
