nomi paced back and forth in her and meli's shared living room. "i can't believe i almost let him kiss me."
"why are you in such denial? just admit you like him already."
nomi let out an exasperated sigh, "i can't. what if it doesn't work out? i-i don't know i haven't liked someone like this in years it feels so weird."
meli could understand where nomi was coming from. i mean, her best friend has only dated men solely for what they could provide for her. it was rare that she truly felt anything for them; in fact meli never even heard nomi say 'i love you' to anyone besides herself and her family.
"you gotta give this a chance, nomi."
"you really think so?" she asked playing with her fingers.
"i do." meli said with a nod and an encouraging smile. "now, go to bed. it's late."
nomi nodded her head and felt herself start to relax. she decided she would call jack tomorrow morning to talk.
