Noel
"Whew, finally done."
Noel said as he wiped the sweat that was dripping down on his chin. He sighed in satisfaction as he saw the clean shiny sink with all the utensils cleaned and trash taken out. Despite that, his nose still caught a pungent smell somewhere nearby.
"Hmm?" He smelled himself. He smelled like a durian.
"Whoops." He chuckled. "Better get washed before heading out. I guess I'll close the library today. But when will I tell Joseph about Serah I wonder?"
He spoke amidst his walking to the bathroom
After washing himself using the refreshing shower in a beautiful spring night, he wore a cream colored turtleneck with a black pants and put on his usual round, old fashioned glasses.
"Perfect, just like the nerd I am."
He grinned while posing in front of the full length mirror. As he hummed while hopping down the stairs to the main door, he touched the door knob and the door shape changed. Not from the usual dark mahogany wood where the library was located behind it, but a white wooden door, made from Birch wood.
Noel also changed, his short dark blue hair elongated until it reached his ankle and it emits sparkles from it.
"Ugh..."
Noel grunted.
"This long hair is a pain..." He narrowed his eyes lazily.
He always whined to his ministers about his long hair. Indeed, just who wants to have an ankle long hair that sparkles around? He'll attract people. However, in his kingdom, long hair represents infinite magic, especially dark blue hair like his that glimmered like the night sky surrounded by stars. He snapped his fingers as he sighed.
His hair that hung freely on his back were suddenly lifted by an invisible force, and were braided and decorated with small white flowers between the crest of the braids.
"Okay done."
The braiding finally stopped and he twisted the doorknob.
Black.
That was what greeted him the moment the door was open, a fully black surroundings. No forest, not even any buildings on the background, completely black.
"What...?"
Noel stared at the darkness in shock. He fumbled the black surroundings and his eyes widened.
"This is, a wall?"
Impossible, from many portals that he closed, the one that he opened exclusively using his spatial magic shouldn't be blocked, unless...
Noel's eyes twitched. There's a lot of possibilities as to why the door was blocked, but he didn't want to fill his head with useless thoughts for now. He closed the door and it reverted back to it's usual shape.
Separating himself from the door, he went upstairs into his bedroom and sat cross legged on the bed. He took a deep breath and exhaled slowly.
Due to the lack of magic powers in the world that he was in, he needed a long time to gather the remaining magic essence that were usually called Mana just to cast a spell.
Different from his usual domestic spells which he casts using the energy inside his body, spells which transcends between universes need energies from both of the world, and of similar amount too.
Which means Noel have to use his Mana to combine his energy and the current universe's energy to cast a spatial spell.
Which was actually a pain in the ass thing to do.
Noel sighed midway in his energy combination process. He just wanted to have a calm other worldly experience while opening a library, how come he needed to do something heavy like combining energies between two worlds? This is a slice of life novel right?
After a long few minutes of combining, a glowing white orb formed. He smiled, his face showed a satisfied expression even though his energy felt like they were sucked dry. Was it because he cast a 20th tier spell before?
"Finally. This only last for a single spell but as for now, this is what I needed the most." Noel said.
He adjusted his sitting position and placed the orb near his chest. The orb gradually glow when Noel silently cast a spell and it shattered in front of him, releasing the magic energy inside it.
The energy slowly formed into that of a white, glowing bird. As it landed on Noel's finger, he pressed his forehead against it's small head, sending informations into the bird.
After he finished giving information, he stepped towards the glass window and slide it open.
"Go."
He reached out his arm into the cold night and the bird flew upwards, to the dark starry sky. He hoped that even if the bird, which was the only mode of communication between his main world and the current world he's in, didn't reach the kingdom, it should at least be able to reach Valheiter who was residing in the sky.
Valheiter was the one who conveyed the messages from the prime minister to him. A mythical dragon, size bigger than Jormungand, the Armageddon bringer. His size is so big, that he had to reside in the space, where he inspects living beings activities from afar.
Noel sighed again.
"What is Izfar thinking? Sending a mythical dragon to be a messanger boy just to convey a message to me? He did know that we can communicate using telepathy, right?"
But then again, there was a possibility that the interference that he faced earlier was also experienced by his folks back in the fairy kingdom
He scratched his forehead and closed back the window. His long hair also reverted back into his usual short, wavy dark blue hair.
"Oh, right."
He stopped at the middle of the stairway where he headed to the kitchen.
"I did say that I won't open the library today. Hmm..."
He cupped his chin and glanced at the white, round wall clock that was attached to the wall across the stairs.
12 a.m.
"Huh..." He said monotonously.
Maybe because he usually slept at 7 o'clock in the evening and woke up at midnight to open the library, but he didn't because of him wandering to the bookstore and the market, not to mention the ice cream making, he felt drained, mentally and physically.
"...I guess I'll sleep early tonight."
He monologued, opting to sleep to slowly heal his Mana. As he snapped his fingers and the lights in the house all turned off, he headed back upstairs towards his room.
