I remember when you woke up.

I held your hand tightly all through the nights that I sat by your hospital bed. I never wanted to leave your side and I didn't want for you to leave mine either.

Every night I sat by your bed, I was praying for you to wake up. Hoping that you would. Asking that you would.

Work was hard and life was hard enough without you.

But I remember that one night where your head slowly began moving side to side. My eyes widened and I immediately called out your name.

Your eyes slowly opened and met mine. I could say that was the happiest moment of my life, but it didn't last for long.

I held your face in my hands, not even knowing that tears were falling from my eyes.

But you only gave me a weak smile.

"Why?" I asked you over and over in a shaky voice.

"I'm so sorry", you only said.

I never knew that there was something else going on in your life. You seemed so happy. It was rare to ever see you down. But I still blamed myself. Asking myself why I didn't check up on you. Because if I did, this wouldn't have happened, right?

"I love you so much", I told you, "please don't leave me."

"I'm so sorry, Levi", you whispered, "I should've told you something."

"N-no, it's not your fault, it's mine because I should've checked up on you."

You only shook your head and closed your eyes.

What?

"I love you a lot, Levi, and I promise to never leave your side."

And with that, you took your last breath.

And with that, I felt as my world began to fall apart.
