Chase had always been a big brother to Marshall, in everything but blood. The two were practically inseparable, so when Marshall's dad died and Marshall was at his lowest, Chase was there, having never felt the pain of losing a family member before. Chase did have a theory that Marshall was thinking about his dad, Blaze, again, considering it's nearly the third anniversary of his death. But Chase kept thinking, lost in thought outside of Katie's clinic with Marshall on his mind for two reasons, with the German Shepard trying to focus on one part of it but to no avail.

When Chase saw Marshall fall onto his net at Mr. Porter's during the fire in the state he was in, everything lost all meaning, his little brother in everything but blood relation was bleeding, burnt and probably dying. And time itself felt like it had stopped. Ryder of course had Skye airlift Marshall out to rush him to Katie's, but Chase and Ryder shared some words as Skye flew ahead. "R-Ry-Ryder... Mar-Marshall isn't going to die right? He's our brave fire pup, he can't die" Chase whimpered sadly as he drove his police truck alongside Ryder with the two heading to Katie's. "Chase, let's just make sure we're there for Marshall, we're a family and we've got each other's back, forever and always." Ryder replied without the usual confidence of the Paw Patrol leader, but he still spoke firm and with logic. "Now just excuse me Chase, drive ahead. I need to tell the other pups to meet us at Katie's." Ryder added as he pulled his ATV over, calling all Paw Patrol pups. And Chase drove ahead, making sure to drive safely and quickly so he could be there for Marshall.

"Katie! We need help! Er sorry, Marshall needs help!" Skye shouted as she picked up Marshall after landing her helicopter by the scruff of his neck and put him on a stretcher, pushing him into Katie's clinic. "Oh my god Skye! What happened to Marshall? " Katie asked the aviator pup quickly. "W-we were putting out a fire at Mr. Porter's and Marshall charged into the cafe to save the civilians in there, and then an explosion happened after the civilians got out, ge-getting Marshall in this state to begin with." Skye replied as Katie wheeled Marshall into her emergency care area. "The other pups and Ryder are on their way too Katie." She added as well before walking out and waiting for the others.

That was 12 hours ago. 12 hours of waiting for Marshall to wake up. "Hey pups, good morning." Katie and Ryder said as they woke up to see every pup staring at the Emergency Care doors with their friend behind them. "H-Hey Ryder, Katie." They all replied, sounding very down, No one here was in a great state of mind currently with Marshall critically injured, but Everest was completely falling apart, with the brave mountain rescue husky torn between wanting to check on the love of her life and comforting all other teammates of Marshall and herself. She hasn't even told Marshall about her crush on him out of fear of rejection from the Dalmatian. But deep down she know even if she was rejected that they'd still be great friends. But right now, nothing else mattered to her but Marshall's survival, even at the cost of her own health.

Ryder slowly walked behind Everest, with a frown on his face for Jake's husky, more specifically how she wasn't eating at all. He had put her food and water bowl next to her three hours ago but she hadn't even taken her eyes off the door to the ER to even eat a bit of food. Everyone was extremely concerned for Marshall, but Everest seemed to be the most worried, if not scared.

"H-Hey, Everest? You need to eat." Ryder pointed out to the husky, only getting a small sigh in response. "Marshall would never let you hear the end of it if you didn't-" Ryder tried to finish his sentence, but couldn't as he was cut off by a low growl from Everest. "Don't. You. Dare. Say his name right now Ryder, I'm scared out of my mind for the lo- I mean safety of Marshall just like everyone else, once I know he's awake I'll eat." Ryder was shocked at Everest's aggression but he understood it, even if it wasn't fully justified, he did know about Marshall's crush on Everest because he told him about it a few weeks ago, he just never knew it went both ways. But that put a smile on the boy's face. " Everest I do have good news for you. Just it's not directly relevant right now." Immediately, the husky forgot about her harsh words to Ryder about Marshall for the moment and perked her ears up. What-What's the news Ryder? I don't feel like I deserve to hear it after the harsh words I said to you, but I'm listening." She said as her ears dropped back down, with her curling back into a ball. "Well Everest, Marshall told me about his crush on you a few weeks ago, he swore me to secrecy but I heard you nearly mention the word love in your comment to me... so?" Immediately the Husky jumped into Ryder's arms and licked his face, tackling him to the ground under the husky's size. "No-no way, you're only saying that to make feel better right?" The Husky said after getting off Ryder with him cleaning his face off. "Nope, I'm not, I'll check in with Katie about how he's doing for you. Just go eat, if not for me, for Marshall?" Ryder replied as he picked up his pup pad to call Katie.

Meanwhile, while Everest was having that conversation with Ryder. The other pups had heard everything. "Wait, Skye? What's a crush?" Rubble asked the aviator pup eating next to him. "Uh... It's kinda like what I had on Chase before he.... uh asked me out, I guess?" Skye replied to the English Bulldog, being the youngest of the team Rubble asked a lot of questions to the older pups about things relating to love, but he was just as mature as the other pups when it came to rescues. "Oh, I thought it meant something else..." Rubble trailed off in response to Skye's reply. But despite Skye's somewhat cheerful reply, everyone at Katie's was extremely depressed while waiting for news about Marshall.

"Okay, so the kid is good to go home now right?" Alex's nurse asked over a phone call to the doctor. "Yes, his head injury is mostly healed. Make sure to call his Grandpa back here tomorrow."

But deep in the woods, we see a board with Marshall and Everest's names on it, with bright red text above me, flagging them as "Missing". "One day, I'll have our pets back.... I already know where they are, that damned town they call Adventure Bay. It's just a matter of time." The figure then threw a knife into a punching bag, with its contents spilling out as the knife made contact.
