HIGHWAY TO HELL ON BLAST, EARPHONES PLUGGED IN, AMBROSA DUCHET WAS READY FOR her first day of school. She'd already met half the town yesterday so this time, she'd thought she'd really shine, following her old school routine of cosplaying rom-com characters every week.
She picked her favourite for her first day at NHS (Newville High School, yes not very creative), Cher Horowitz from Clueless, adorning the iconic yellow outfit seen at the beginning of the movie. She most certainly was going to leave a mark.
"Bye, mom!" she yelled to her mother, picking her bag from under the coat hanger and grabbing her car keys from the stand. She hummed out the lyrics, being not much of a singer, bobbing her head every now and then. She clicked the automated unlock on the key and headed towards the car only to let out a very frustrated cry followed by a series of curses.
"Good thing I drove by," Jack laughed from behind her, jumping out of his Jeep Wrangler (yes, coincidently they owned the same car) and walking towards the girl (who was crouching very awkwardly in front of the flat tire).
"I swear to god it was fine yesterday!" the girl grumbled, slapping her arms on her thighs while getting up, "Hi Jack," she added in a disheartened tone, her happy mood all soiled by this flat tire.
