"Do you still write poetry?"

"No."

"Why is that?"

"I mean I used to before I graduated high school."

"What made you quit?"

"No one believed in my words."

"Mmmm..."

"Would you like to talk about something else?"

"No, why are you uncomfortable?"

"No, I just hate discussing the past."

"Well, then let's discuss the future, agreed?"

"Agreed."

"Now give me a freestyle poem, please Ms. Kaylonie."

Kaylonie smirked and then giggled softly as she watched him.

"As I look out upon the world at the chartreuse leaves, the date palm trees, the oak trees, with all of the dead things around.

There is still beauty to be found amongst the golden apple yellow, russet brown potato, rusty red, and burnt sugared orange leaves on the trees and ground.

Mother Nature speaks to me enlightening me drawing me closer to who I'm supposed to be unleashing the real goddess in me."

De'Angelo smiled but said nothing.

He felt that he was making her anxious because of the way she was staring at him biting her lip.

He finally said,"That was pretty good."

"Pretty good?"

He saw her attitude through her sour face.

"Yes, pretty good, because I know that you can do better than that."

"Wow!"

"You think I'm being rude and inconsiderate right?"

She grimaced folded her arms across her chest and said,

"Quite frankly, yes."

"Well, I'm sorry Lil baby, but you're better than that and I meant that as a compliment."

"Really?"

"Yes, really."

"So what do you think I should change about my poetry?"

"I'll tell you on two conditions."

"Which are?"

"One I'd like to be your very best friend and confidant."

"Okay, I agree and the second condition?"

"Two you let me buy you dinner."

"I would but my clothes and shoes are destroyed."

"Don't worry about that Lil mama I will buy you some new clothes and shoes tonight."

"What do you want in return?"

"Whatever you're willing to give me."

"Friendship and companionship."

"If that's all you're willing to give then so be it, I don't want anything from you that you're unwilling to give."

"Really now?"

"Really, baby girl now let's go shopping."

"Okay, then Lo let's go."

"Alright, then Lil baby let's go."
