Chapter 3- The Rainforest

I neared the trees and I placed a hand on the oldest tree here. The Great Canopy tree had the memories of all the forest, every forest has one. I listened to see what was wrong. Humans were here cutting down trees for new homes in the area, Ill overlook that; for now. They were near the grand waterfall in the middle of the forest.

I hope the rain- naires will sure to keep the water clean from pollution. The oil in those trucks are very strong and can make many of the trees die through their roots. I looked up. Smoke was coming up into the air.

I flew up into the canopy. Many of the leaves and flowers were starting to wilt and lose their color. Not good. I flew back to the Grand Canopy tree and started to heal the trees, many responded to the magic and some were not, but wasnt something I couldnt fix.

The trees are responding to the magic, but the Humans are cutting down more than I thought, I said still projecting the rainbow of energy.

What happened here?, Jack asked flying next to me.

The levelers are cutting them down to build homes for the animal shelter near by. When humans hurt the forest , sometimes I overlook them when they care about the animals and plants. Or doing a good cause, I said ending the energy I was sending. There they should be okay, as long as the rain-naries keep an eye on them.

The rain-naries are protecting the waterfall so the oil doesnt pollute the areas water supplies. Many naries travel around the world making sure that the natural plan of seasons are correct and that the plants and animals are alright, I said hovering over near the fallen down tree. This needed some care.

Here, let me show you, I pulled a seed from the opened flower pod near by. The seed is all you need to make a big difference in the World.

Many people try and many succeed into bring attention to problems in nature. I put the seed in the tree where it split at the roots.

Everything is connected in this world, from plants and animals, to people, or to you and me. No one is alone in any way or life. Were all connected. In nixie hollow we have a saying, Many leaves, one tree in one forest. We live by this. And we help when we can.

I used my staff to help it grow. A bright stream of green and gold light came up from the ground and into the tree. There was a creak sound as the tree started to grow new roots and vines started to connect the two pieces together. The tree started to rise off the ground and stood up straight. Bring shade and cooler area for animals and plants that need it.

Wow, thats really cool, Jack said in awe.

Thanks, Jack, I said as a load crash came from where the workers were working.

Ill have to have a chat with the workers for the mess they have made, I told the others as I landed on the ground.

How you going to do that?, Tooth asked.

Naries and helpers of us can look and talk to people. So we can let them know what they need to do so the Earth can be healthy, I said throwing a hand full of red dust over me. My clothes changed into pink jeans and a nice green flowing shirt with stylish black boots. Would you like to come with me, Jack?

I I dont know. Would I be able to change back? Jack asked.

Of course, Jack. I have different dust for that, I replied.

Oh, Okay. Dust me up, he replied holding out his arms.

I sprinkled some red duct on his head and his clothes changed to a blue t shirt with snowflakes on it and black jeans. His hair and eyes now a hazel brown.

There. Now we can go see them, I said as I started walking toward the men.

Is this how I looked like before I was Jack Frost? he questioned.

I dont know. I can look in the Flower Vault and see, Although you remind me of someone, but I cant place who, I started tapping my pointer finger against my chin.

Whats the Flower Vault? Jack asked as we reached the clearing.

Its where we keep everyone's favorite flowers and memories, I replied.

Wait, did you say memories? Jack asked his eyes widening.

Yes, Why? I was surprised Jack was asking so many questions.

Because Im looking for my memories before I became Jack Frost.

Okay, Ill take you there after were done here, I replied. Ive never seen Jack like this.

We neared the workers and they looked over at us where we had stopped. I used my magic to make the workers seen the bad they had done.

Please, good sirs; While you are cutting down the trees please, plant new ones to replace the ones you have taken, My voice was strong and the workers nodded and called in an order of fresh trees for the forest.

As we walked back to the sled I sprinkled green dust on us and we changed back to normal.

Uncle North, would you please take me home, now, I asked as a simple request but my voice has always done this little melody whenever I speak.

Of course, Rose Bud. He replied and we all plied into the sled. North took off toward home. Jack sat next to me, his hand touching mine just by a little. I knew he sensed the connection, so I grabbed his hand and held tight. His eyes lift to mine and he understood.

The flight took about two minutes, what with Norths snow globes. North landed on the lake, the children long gone home for the night. I climbed out and started to my hollow when Jack grabbed my hand.

"You live here?, Jack questioned.

Yeah, I stressed the answer out. I cant believe he didnt know that already. You didnt know that?

No, I didnt. Youve lived here all this time, how couldnt I notice before? he questioned.

Maybe its because youre always freezing things to notice, said Bunny. Jack shot him a dirty look.

I know is not a good time, however I think we should tell Rose Bud the news we have for her, North said. Yeah, Mate. I think so, said Bunny.

Tell me what? I asked.

Well before the event of the Pole becoming a flower field, the Man in The Moon told us a new Guardian is joining us, Tooth said as she flew to the near rock and sat.

Thats great, but why are you telling me?, I asked totally confused.

Because you are the next Guardian, Tooth said fluttering out of the sled.

What, I said shocked. Why me?

Because the Man in the Moon told us, She answered.

But why now, why me and not thorn? I thought.

Um, Okay, then. I guess.

I started to walk to my hollow tree as Jack followed me. I looked back at him over my shoulder with a questionable look on my face.

Why are you following me, Jack? I asked.

Because you said youd show me the Flower Vault, He answered. Oh, right. I forgotten that.

Oh, Okay. Come on Ill show you in, I replied as I started walking again. I stopped in the center of the frozen lake and stopped.

Um, You guys might want to back off the lake for this, I said as I got my staff out. They did as I said and with that, I plunged my staff into the thick ice of the lake.

The ice make a cracking sound around and all over the lake. Suddenly, lights shined under the lake and make a pair of fairy wings that spread to most of the lake. The wings carved out of the ice began to lift into the air. I took my staff out of the ice and flew down to the hole in the ice.

Come on, guys. It wont hold for much longer, I said and with that I flew into the hole. As the wings began to fall back into place Norths sled made it through.
