The happy pandemic girl

And she came back to uni needing to find an escape
Hasn’t she been through the best life and ruled it so great?

Here she is back but missing was the welcome sign
Two roommates that gave less than a dime

But it looks so great on the outside they say
She travelled, she worked, she really should be screaming hooray

Indeed she had it fun but sadness creeps under any roof
Heartbreak, isolation, immense frustration and she felt suffocation more than on one occasion

One thought kept her going, soon I will be home coming
Sheffield is here for me I would soon have the best year three

Soon it came that’s true but is it what she was hoping for?
People cold and distant could be, everyone has their problems you see

She tried to befriend, tried to feel human again
Counted the days of total isolations, class could be the only salvation

People didn’t really get it, she met two today how she is not okay
She has money, class, prestige, what more can she wish

You see night can be cruel and so lonely
when close to the phone you sit and thinking of yourself so lowly

Why there is no one who hit the ring on a Friday night
so you grip the pillow tight
and embrace the scary thoughts running through your mind

It’s the virus they say, it made us this way,
Please be mindful we are all hurting and trying to keep the tears at bay

And so she continued to try to find her way
Branded unstable, no one ever faithful,
some saying sorry to cover their fake story
Searching, burning, what is she not learning

Listen here honey, we are all sad and confused, you should do the first step for us to feel loose
But doesn’t struggle go both way or the “strong ones” cant ever feel their own pain?

Cursed she was to be alone no matter how much she searched for a home
At the end of the day she was a different case
No one really wants to be friend the face…

…of the last standing, happy searching ending,
Little miss sunshine, forever understanding,
Strong, faithful, miss extrovert who didn’t feel the virus hanging

She was forced into shoes she could never wear
And the title of “happy pandemic girl” she had to bear
