Repent

At first it was soft and slow

A faint rhythm in the distance

I know I was wrong

And the drums played on and on

Then I did it again

My greed without a voice to prove

But my mind, in secret, constant

Maybe it was the melody of evil

At last the song was overwhelming

I could not escape the sound

My sin had turned colossal

And the drum boomed louder over me

I fell down on my knees

My heart without beat

I knew I was wrong

The song would have to stop

Deep within me darkness turned

Forgiven at the turn of hope

I admit I was wrong

Silence kept and Redemption won
