A character quirk is an unusual feature that sets your character apart from others. Examples would be Harry Potters scar, or Katniss Everdeen's amazing hunting abilities. While these are important to your characters identity, you don't want to over play them. Sometimes, over playing a characters quirk can dehumanize them, and make them unrealistic. However, down playing the quirk too much will give you a character like Clark Kent, minus the ability to turn into superman. Here is checklist I use to write and understand my characters quirks.
