Two phones went off in two separate rooms which caused the quiet apartment to be filled with noise. Emily, who was in the kitchen, glanced over to her cell phone and read the message from the lock screen. JJ, who was pacing the office, ignored the incoming message and maintained her thinking process.

Emily placed her plate down in the sink and stuffed her PB&J sandwich into her mouth to attend to the phone. She cleaned her fingers with her basketball shorts and picked up her phone to reply.

The message, of course, was from Garcia explaining that they had a case. Emily quickly responded with a simple 'ok' and set her phone down to get ready. She finished chewing her sandwich and took a water bottle from the fridge to cool down.

"Jayje!" she shouted just before she took a sip of the water. "We've got a case!"

The brunette waited a moment for a response but didn't receive one. She groaned in frustration and dragged her feet to the office in their apartment.

When she walked in she saw JJ pacing the room while mumbling to herself. The blonde didn't notice Emily walk in and jumped when she felt a cold touch on her shoulder.

"Jesus!" JJ exclaimed.

"Hey, hey. Leave Jesus out of this," Emily smiled and walked over to the armchair in the corner of the room. JJ found the comment funny and turned away from Emily to hide her laughter.

Once the blonde controlled herself she turned back to Emily and walked over to the armchair to sit on Emily's lap. She wrapped her arms around her neck and placed a kiss on her temple. Emily found the gesture unusual at the moment and furrowed her eyebrows.

"What was that for?" Emily whispered. She set her head on JJ's chest and placed her hand on JJ's thigh to hold her up.

"Just because," the woman replied. She exhaled deeply and immediately changed her mood. "Why'd you come in?"

"Uh, we've got a case," Emily whined as she made a pouty face. JJ could already imagine said pouty face and laughed.

"Ugh, do we ever get a break?" JJ removed herself from Emily's lap and ran a hand down her face as she stood in front of the brunette.

"Yeah right," Emily scoffed and sat up in the chair. She put her hands out for JJ and smiled with her eyes closed.

JJ smiled back and took ahold of her hands to pull her up. She brought Emily to her feet and pulled her into a hug as she did. Emily hugged her back while she swayed them out of the office.

When they exited the office Emily peeled herself off of her girlfriend and jogged to the bedroom to get dressed. JJ grabbed their go-bags from the hallway closet and started fixing a small lunch for herself.

After Emily was fully dressed and ready to go, the two grabbed their bags, guns, badges, phones, and keys and walked out of the door. They went into Emily's car and drove quietly to the office.

The music on the radio was low and the women were silent, Emily kept her attention on the road and JJ was staring aimlessly out of the window. She couldn't get Jeremy out of her mind and it didn't help that Elle went radio silent.

Neither Hotch nor JJ had heard from Elle since their encounter at the park and it bothered JJ. She couldn't shake the feeling that Jeremy was somehow connected to her and the rock he gave was the only thing she had.

"Jayje," Emily remarked, she placed her hand on JJ's thigh and glanced over to the blonde. "What are you thinking?"

JJ turned her head over to Emily with her eyebrows raised. She took a moment to register the question and just gazed at Emily.

"Uh, nothing, just tired," the blonde put her hand on top of Emily's and smiled.

"Is it about Elle?" Emily glanced over at JJ again for a reaction.

"No, not her. Jeremy," JJ smiled just by saying his name, she traced a circle on Emily's hand and thought about their interaction.

"Tell me about him or at least what you think," the brunette urged. She wanted JJ to open up and now that they had nowhere to go, it was a perfect time.

"I don't know what I think. When I saw him running towards us I just felt this wave of recognition take over me. It was like we knew each other," JJ mumbled. She kept her focus on Emily's hand and averted eye contact with the woman. "But it's impossible, Elle would've told me, right?"

Emily opened her mouth to speak but couldn't get a word out. In all honesty, Emily hoped Jeremy wasn't related to JJ. It would mean that JJ would go back to Elle to reconnect, she'd be pushed away while the two spent time with Jeremy. She feared that she'd be forgotten.

"I think you should wait to hear from her. We know nothing for sure," Emily pointed out then put the car in park as they arrived at the field office. "Also, I hate seeing you like this over a woman who left you."

"You're right," the blonde laughed. She looked up from Emily's hand and immediately locked eyes with her. "Thank you."

"Anytime babe," Emily smiled and moved in for a kiss.

JJ mimicked the motion and pressed her lips against Emily's. The blonde smiled against her lips and brought her hands to cup the woman's face. They released the kiss and pressed their foreheads together, their eyes were closed as they took a moment to relax.

From outside of the car, a woman watched through a camera. She took photos of the couple in their car with a smirk on her face. The BAU had problems on their way and were oblivious to it.
