Friends By Chance, Lovers By Choice

-First day of Sophomore year-

Sierra Pov:

 At 5:30 I woke up to my alarm ringing right in my ear, today was my least favorite day of the year, the first day of school. I rubbed my eyes trying to wipe the sleepiness away but it didn't work to well. I walked down stairs and saw my mom making breakfast, "Good morning sweetie" "Morning" I mumbled in response, she handed me a plate of pancakes and sausage.

 After I ate, I went upstairs to get dressed, I put on some light blue ripped jeans, and a black sweater. After getting dressed I then went to crimp my hair and do some make up. I got a text from my best friend, Logan, saying his mom was ready to take us to school, I then grabbed my backpack, said goodbye to my mom, and went next door to Logans house. Me and Logan have been neighbors for as long as we can remember, our moms have been best friends since high school and always planned on being neighbors and have their kids be best friends like them, luckily for them their plan worked out perfectly.

Once I got to Logans house Mrs. Carter drove us to school. Once we arrived to Rock Hill High School, me and Logan got out of the car and walked to the door, we were about 10 minutes early so we just sat down on a bench outside the door. "So, first day of school, are you nervous?" Logan asked trying to break the morning silence, "Kind of but it's just school, we have had about 11 first days of school" "I'm just trying to start conversation calm down", I gave Logan the side eye basically telling him it's too early for this.

After about 5 minutes our friends Alex and Avery, the wonder twins are what our friend group calls them, showed up at school. "It is too early for this shit" Alex whined as soon as him and his sister reached us, "Tell me about it" I agreed. "Ivy and Zack aren't here yet?" Avery questioned looking around for the other half of the friend group, "Nope, they are supposed to be here by now" Logan stated as he pulled out his phone to text his Zack and Ivy to ask where they are. Just as he sent the text Zack walked over with Ivy following behind, "Took you long enough, you too weren't fucking where you?" Alex joked; Avery slapped him in the back of the head signaling for him to shut up. "No, we don't even like each other and I am not ever breaking are rule after what happened in 8th grade." Zack responded clearly annoyed.

You might be wondering what the rule is and what happened in 8th grade, I guess I'll tell you if you want to know so bad. Since the 6th grade me, Logan, Zack, Alex, Avery and Ivy have had a friend group and we have all been inseparable ever since, in 8th grade Avery and Logan dated, they were obviously cute together and they were perfect until Khloe, the biggest bitch ever, messed everything up. At our 8th grade dance Khloe went up to Logan and kissed him obviously making Avery mad blah blah blah. Avery got mad at Logan because Khloe said he kissed her then our friend group got in a big fight until Avery and Logan became friends again then we all made a rule where we can't date anyone in the group.

It was almost time for first block so we all pulled out our schedules, I had World History first with Zack and Alex, great. Avery, Logan and Ivy had Math. We all went different ways to our first classes, "What's the room number?" I asked trying to find our class "223" Zack answered trying to look too, "where did Alex go" I asked again looking behind me I saw him talking to some freshman girl obviously flirting with her. I made my way to Alex, grabbed his ear and dragged him with me, "ow ow ow, CALL ME LATER, UH LIN- I MEAN STACY" Alex yelled back at the younger girl. "Found it" Zack announced once we were back with him. 

We walked in the class room and went up to our teacher, Mrs. Brown, and she told us were to sit. My seat was next to Zack and Alex was in front of me. Soon after Mrs. Brown started calling roll, "Sierra Griffin?" 'Here!"  "Zack Marshall?" Zack raised his hand, " uh Alex Owen" "Present", "Khloe Smith?" shit, of course she had to be in here, "Here" she announced, great she sat two seats next to me.

A few classes later we had lunch, good thing we all had the same lunch period. We found a table and sat down, I sat by Avery and Ivy, directly in front of me Zack sat with Alex on his left and Logan on his right. If I had to be honest Zack looked different, he looked, kind of, hot. We all talked about our day so far and everyone's day wasn't bad at all. Ivys dad, principal Ashford, walked into the lunch room monitoring everything then he started looking directly at us then walked over to our table and basically yelled at Ivy for being late to her first class, "Come on dad I was only 5 minutes late!" "I know I was just joking" Principal Ashford said as he let out a chuckle.

Zacks Pov: 

 After lunch I had Math with Sierra. "Your dads our math teacher" Sierra said looking at me with a smirk on her face, "What's up with the smirk?" "Well, I was just thinking we could act up in his class, I mean your dad loves me so why not mess with him" Sierra said still smirking, If I had to be honest Sierra looked very cute when she had ideas "Ok bet, whoever annoys him the most has to do the others homework for 2 weeks" I said putting my hand out waiting for her to shake it for a deal "Deal" she said very confidently before shaking my hand.

We walked in my dad's class room sitting down in random seats not even saying a word to him, it took him about 5 minutes to realize we were even there, "When did you guys get here?" Dad asked us "Five minutes ago, can you ask mom what's for dinner?" I asked him clearly trying to annoy him, "Zack, during class I am not your father you will call me Mr. Mashall, you understand?" "Yes, Dad" I responded, I heard Sierra laugh a little after I said that, "Zack" He said giving me a warning look, "Come on you're not even teaching yet Mr. Marshall" Sierra jokingly said trying to annoy my dad. My dad looked at both of us and walked away clearly already annoyed, me and Sierra high fived each other than dad, or should I say Mr. Marshall started teaching.

After school me and the boys had football practice with Alexs dad, Coach Owen, and the girls had cheer practice with my mom.  Me, Logan, and Alex walked out of the locker rooms and saw the cheerleaders walking to their practice spot, I couldn't help but stare at Sierra, she looks different this year, she has the prettiest smile, the most amazing eyes and she has the best personality, wait do I like Sierra, no, I can't we have a rule. "Zack, you good bro?" Logan asked, "Uh yea I'm fine" I responded looking away from her, "Aww does Zackie have a crushie" Alex said in the stupidest voice I've ever heard, "what, no" "Then what were you staring at" Logan asked "Nothing, let's just get to the field before coach Owen gets mad at us" I said changing the subject. 

"Marshall, you feeling, okay?" Coach Owen asked me, "wha- oh yea, I'm okay" "You sure, you haven't been really paying attention to well, do you have something on your mind?" Coach asked "First day stress I guess, sorry I'll focus only on football for the rest of practice" "good' Coach replied, I looked back over at Sierra to see her looking at me, I just waved and started to focus on football. "You sure you don't have a crush on someone or something" Alex asked me "Yes I'm sure Alex."

After practice I walked back to the locker room and got changed then went over to my mom who was just finishing up cheer practice. Once they were done Sierra came over to me "I saw you practicing, you are really good at doing flips" I told her "Thanks, your mom taught me how to do that when I was 12" "Nice, well see you tomorrow Sierra" "See ya Zack" I walked to my mom's car waiting for her to get in. "Coach Owen told me you weren't paying attention much, you, okay?" "Yea just tired" "Okay" She responded. When we got home I took a shower then went to sleep.

A/N: So far we know Zack might like Sierra but he can't do anything about it because of the group rule. Do you think Sierra likes him back? or does she have eyes for someone else??
