(A/N: From here on out, the chapters will gradually get longer. Virtual kisses for everyone.)
I hate, no scratch that, I loathe 4th of July weekend. I can't believe I decided to have the baby shower today. It's going to be held inside a building type thing near the park, so the little ones can play. It's mainly going to be friends from school, co-workers, and their families(if they have any). My mom and Mrs. McCall got in yesterday to help with some last minute baby preparations.
"Lia, I'm gonna go to the park and start setting up. I'll come back later for you and our moms alright." Scott told me at like four in the morning. I simply nodded my head snuggling deeper into the blanket. He kissed the top of my head and quietly closing my door. I checked my phone to see that it's actually nine a.m. I groaned lightly and rolled back over falling asleep.
~2 hours later~
"Sweet pea. C'mon get up. You can't be late to your baby shower." Mrs. McCall coaxed rubbing my back.
"I don't wanna go. My back is hurting." I pouted into my pillow.
"I'm sorry sweetie. Look at it this way. The faster you get up and ready, the faster the day will go by." she consoled. I took a deep breath and sat up.
"Is my mom getting ready?" I asked trying to adjust to the lighting.
"Yes. She's almost done too. Scott said that people started to arrive already, so he can't get us." Mama McCall informed me. I simply nodded and stood up grabbing my towel. After I showered and pampered myself, I got changed into jeggings, a white v-neck, and flats. I milkmaid braided my ever growing hair and sat down at my vanity applying makeup.
"Lia, honey. Are you almost ready?" my mom questioned knocking on my door.
"Yeah."
I finished up my makeup and grabbed everything I would need, throwing it into a random black purse. I walked out the room and into the living room.
"Let's go? I want to get this over with quickly. Don't wanna miss the fireworks. I heard it was a special display." I smiled looking at my beaut momma and her twin(not literally). They smiled back and we left for the park.
~a few hours later~
"Okay guys. One last game and then it's cake time." my good friend Janie said. Everybody stopped and looked at her waiting for the last game rules.
"As we all know, Mylly here is expecting a little one she's naming Grace. Who ever can guess Grace's full name correctly first, gets a free spa day coupon for Karalynn's Beauty Spa and Salon Resort." she announced enthusiastically. I'm so lucky I befriended her my junior/senior year. I have no idea where I would be without her.
"I've been informed I can give you one hint and one hint only. It does end in Marie. Now figure out the rest for that free spa day coupon!" she expressed happily. All the females that came, grabbed a piece of paper and something to write with. I was sitting in a chair near the screen door smelling the still on going barbecue. The guys were out there the results of their game 'Who can chug beer out of the baby bottle the fastest.' Scott and one of my co-workers James won. They both received a Dick's Sporting Goods $50 gift card.
"Are they guessing her name?" Scott asked through the screen. I nodded and looked back at him.
"So far your mom has gotten the closest to getting it correct. Is another load of barbecue almost done?" I asked looking at the grill.
"Another five minutes or so." he answered. Kira, one of Scott's co-workers, came up to me with the correct answer.
"Guys we found our winner! Kira has correctly guessed Grace's full name. It is Grace-Emilia Janie Allison Marie. You my dear have one yourself a free spa day!" Janie announced. Everyone cheered for her and discarded their papers and writing utensils. Scott came in with the rest of the barbecue and the boys followed suit. My favourite co-worker, Liam, came up to give Kira a kiss. You can say me and Scott had something to do with those becoming a canon.
"Cake time. Who's ready to see it?!" My mom asked everyone. They all responded with a 'me' and a hand in the air. My mom made the cake herself and refused to let me see it. I'm pretty sure if she wasn't a nurse, she would be making cakes for a living. Scott came and sat down next to me throwing his arm around the back of my chair, while our moms disappeared into the kitchen.
"Have you seen the cake yet?" I asked Scott turning to look at him.
"Nope. They kicked me out of the kitchen just to bring it in. Want me to bring the presents so we can open them already? It'll save us time before the fireworks." Scott asked.
"Could you please?"
He quickly went to retrieve all the presents with help of the guys and sat back down right as the cake came out.
"Oh my goo'ness!" I exclaimed like a little kid on Christmas, when the cake came out. the cake was covered in pink fondant with little diamond cut designs on the side as well as pink bow wearing skulls inside a swirly outer casing thing. The top had a pink bow wearing skull rattle and a pink and white one piece that has a skull and 'Little Rebel' on it.
"Mom. It's wonderful." I gushed breathlessly.
"Oh baby. You're crying." my mom said wiping my tears. We all enjoyed at least one slice of cake and the present opening. Grace has clothes that'll take her from new born to the first day of school. She even has enough nappies to last her a lifetime.
"You ready for the fireworks?" Scott asked. I nodded my head and stood up fixing my shirt on my ever growing bump. We walked out to the field looking for a good place to sit and watch the fireworks. When they started I couldn't keep my eyes off of them. Towards the end, there was a set that went off and spelt,
Mylia go out with me?
Scott
I looked back at him smiling widely, nodding my head too shocked to speak. I pulled him into a kiss as the grand finale went off.
