"yeah of course, what's up" El asked
"Listen you can't tell anyone else ok?" Max asked, her voice quavering
"No problem, we're a team." El said
"El I'm bi" Max said, her voice practically shaking
"Ok, i still love you just the way you are" El said empathetically

Max's eyes watered, El had said she loves her. Max new it was just platonically but she still ached to hear those words one more time
"Thanks El i-" Max said, "I love you too"
"Hey can i get your advice on something?" El asked
"Shoot" Max said
As El told Max what had happened with Mike, Max's face grew red with anger. Max was enraged when El finished the story
"That little shit" Max said bitterly, "he was out of line"
She paused then said "Are you ok?"
El's answer crushed her, "No"
Max was worried, "Do you want to talk about it?"
Max could feel El's sigh across the hundreds of miles.
"I wish you were here" El said, "You're the only person i can talk too"
That both shattered and repaired Max's heart at the same time.
"I'll visit, i promise" Max said
"Promise" El repeated
"It's getting late" Max said, "I should be getting to bed."
"Good night Maxie" El said. Max's heart did a backflip at the nickname
"Night El" Max said, before hanging up the phone and crying herself to sleep.
