"Hi, can I get a Mocha cookie crumble frappuccino? Oh and a roasted ham sandwich?"
"Take out or-"
"Take out"
I hate eating in public. I don't know why but the thought of a bunch of people just being there while you devour your meal creeped me out. Better yet having to eat with class like you weren't starving for the past half hour is insane.
"What name am I putting on the cup?"
"Valerie, thank you" I smiled at the Barista as I turned and took a seat by the window, scrolling through my messages.
-Mom-
"When are you coming to visit, have you found a boyfriend yet?"
-Headache-
"Hey, where'd you go? You better not be getting breakfast without me or else-"
"Order 24?" I slipped my phone in my back pocket and went to the Barista, handing him cash and taking the food. I looked at the cup and sighed as I saw the name Jane before rolling my eyes and walking through the door.
I let out a scream as I felt someone violently grab me and turned and saw Mia standing behind me with a frowning face and folder arms.
"So this is what you do? You sleep with me and then leave in the morning while I'm sleeping?" I looked around as people around us stopped to stare and give looks. I shook my head before grabbing her and pulling her to the corner.
"Mia, what the hell? Now half the people on the street think we're a couple"
"What's wrong with that?"
"Wow, seeing that your the person who tries so hard to get me on dates with guys, that's rich coming from you."
"Fine whatever, it was fun while it lasted, but did you see the way that lady looked at us? Total party pooper."
"Yh, whatever, how did you even find me?"
"Really? Miss Starbucks? Besides, what's in the bag?"
"My breakfast, go find your own," I said pulling away and holding the bag over my head. What a time to be tall. I walked forward and paused as I realized she wasn't beside me and turned to see her fiddling with her hands.
"Hey, what's wrong?"
"About what happened earlier...would it only be a joke if I wanted to be a couple with girls?" I paused before covering my gasp. I walked over to her and pulled her into a huge hug while shaking her violently.
"Omg, omg, you know I thought it was really weird that you were always tryna set me up with guys and never had one yourself."
"Yh, I was so scared to tell you, I thought you would leave."
"Why the hell would I do that? So what you like girls? Science proves we do live longer." I said as I pulled her arm.
"Wait, you haven't...have you?" I said trailing my hands around as I pointed to myself.
"Ugh, god no, I'm Gay not delusional, and blind."
"Ok, take that back," I said as I punched her in the arm, causing her to wince and push me away.
"You know, maybe now I'll have enough courage to tell my parents."
"I thought you said you weren't delusional?"
"I'm not, it's just that I thought it would be nice to know if they were on my side."
"Your parents blew a casket and grounded you for a week when you got second place in the science project for the middle school fair. I think you should definitely wait a while, maybe a couple of years."
/Later that evening/
The nob turned as I opened the door and I responded to my mom as I spread out on my bed.
-Mom-
"Soon and I'm working on it."
...
"You've been saying that for months, Val, when are you actually gonna bring home someone?"
"Soon, I promise, gotta go, love you." I threw my phone across the bed and opened the bag, staring at the undone sandwich. "It's ok, just needs a little reshaping, it's gonna taste the same anyways," I said as I took a huge bite from it. I drank some of the frap before pulling over my laptop and scrolling through TikTok.
/1 hour later/
Wait? What are you doing? you know better than this, pull yourself together.
Think...I have to get up and do something!
My laptop closed in front of me as I sat up and ran to the bathroom. I shaved my legs and brushed my teeth before, painting a new red nail polish over my toenails. Spraying perfume all over myself, I creamed my skin and looked at my face in the mirror as I touched my pale face.
...
Chomping on salsa and chips I stared intently at the tv and touched my face to see if the face mask was dry.
"And now, we are going to show you some of the world's most dangerous killers." I sipped on the wine as I heard the door open. I looked up to see Mia standing in the doorway with a dress in her hand.
"What are you doing? Get dressed!"
"You know I think it would be rude to disturb my legs, they've done a lot today.
"Now!"
"And my arms!"
