The pain was all I could feel for a while but then it subsided, or I just stopped feeling it. I don't remember much after I fainted other than Hatice's horrified face and someone yelling to get a doctor who I think was Nasuh Effendi from how close they yelling was and I know that Hatice would only trust him in these times to bring me into her palace. If only she knew who did this to me.
"Sultana" someone was shaking me. I sighed knowing that my peace, for now, has ended. I cracked my eyes open and thankfully there was no harsh light to hurt them. The pain in my stomach was bothering me but not as much as before.
I turned to look at the person beside me trying to wake me, it was Hundi. Her face was all swollen probably from crying but over what? I was alive and here after all. I was definitely in Hatice Sultan's palace from the way the room was decorated.
"Let me help you, Sultanim" Hundi helped me sit up against some pillows. The sun was dim out so it was either dawn or dusk right now.
"Where are my children?" I asked. My voice sounded weird and dry from the lack of use.
"Here Sultana, the children have been given their own chamber here. All of the others from your household are with them" Hundi handed me a cup of water. I took a couple of sips to not hurt my stomach more.
"Why are you crying?" I asked placing the cup down beside me. Her face scrunched up as she tried not to cry again.
"Sultanim, you- you were pregnant before you got injured " she whispered unable to speak. My heart dropped at her words. Tears build up in my eyes.
"Were?" I asked. My hand moved over the wound on my stomach.
"They tried everything but we were too late" she answered. She took my free hand and squeezed showing me her support.
"Leave me alone, please" I pulled my hand away from. I was barely able to stop myself from bursting out crying before she left the room.
"Slowly, be careful sultana" Hundi helped me walk out of my room and down to the main room in Hatice's palace. Hürrem was there with Hatice and my children.
"Mommy!" Murad was the first to notice me. He tried to run to me but Mara stopped him from getting too close. I signaled for her to let go of him. Murad hugged me softly bewaring of my wound having probably been told to be careful.
"Finally your back" he mumbled. He placed a kiss on my hip the only place he could reach. He let go and ran back to his siblings. Hundi helped me walk over to the couches, she helped me sit down beside Hürrem. Funny, both the wives of sultan Suleiman, are injured and faced death.
"I'm sorry about what happened to your face" I turned to look at Hürrem who had bandages covering her face.
"I'm sorry too," she said. Her eyes darted to my stomach then back to me. I had a feeling that she wasn't talking about my wound. Tears welled up in my eyes but I pushed them back.
"Sultana" I turned to look at Rosie. She nodded at me to go over to her. Hundi helped me stand up again and walked me to the side where Rosie waited.
"You got this while you were uhm locked in your room," she said awkwardly. She held out a letter. I took it from her and opened it curious as to who would send me a secret message.
"Qamar Sultan
First of all, I must warn you, do not think for a second of sending a letter or what happened to His Majesty or bad things will happen and believe me this time you won't survive them.
When we return you better not mention my name otherwise you will face very bad consequences. I will make you suffer badly, you have eight children but if you mention me then you will have none. Before I forget, sorry for your loss, we could have had a new Sehzade or Sultana but Allah didn't want them to be born to a mother like you.
Ibrahim Pasha"
I wanted to kill him with my own hands so badly. I wanted to scream and smash things but I had no strength anymore. I crumbled the paper in a ball and gave it back to Rosie who gave me a sympathetic look.
I pulled the blanket higher up to cover my head as people ran around outside. Suleiman had come back from the campaign victorious and I wanted to see him badly but It wasn't like I can walk much with this wound I was burdened with. It healed a little but it still hurts like hell.
The doors to my room opened softly. Footsteps approached the bed. This for sure was Suleiman, he must have heard of what happened. He sat down beside me on the bed. I pushed the blanket off and looked at him with tears streaming down my face, mourning my unborn child.
"Suleiman" I cried and threw myself in his arms. He held me close to his chest. He kissed my cheek.
"They killed him Suleiman" I sobbed pulling away from him. Suleiman leaned his forehead against mine and wiped my tears.
"They killed our son" I sobbed. Suleiman froze and looked at me shocked.
"What?" He asked shakily. He pulled away from me and looked at me like I was crazy. They didn't tell him and now he thinks I was crazy since he saw all of our children before coming here.
"I was pregnant and they killed the baby" I sobbed. I placed my face in my hands trying to control my crying.
"Shhh, don't cry you'll rip your stitches" he pulled me into his arms again. He kissed the crown of my head and rubbed my back to calm me down.
"I will make them regret what they did" he promised in a whisper. I took a deep breath to calm myself.
"Promise me you'll punish them" I pulled away from him again. Suleiman raised his hand and wiped my tears away again.
"I promise"
