Rainy days

Disclaimer: none, besides the mention of killers and buglers briefly.

Karen sighed as she saw a raindrop trickle down the window.

She had been at Bonnie and Ashley's shared house with Scout and Amber until the rain came down.

Now, they were just sitting and watching the rainfall.

They had been planning on going to the beach and having a picnic, but Karen didn't think that would happen anytime soon with how heavily this rain was falling. The weather forecast even said that it would hail. Karen felt a pit form in her stomach as she remembered that Scout has left his car outside in the rain. The Gem laid her eyes on Scout, he was looking outside with a blank expression on his face. He was probably worried about his older twin, Karen knew he would be fine though. Scout said that he was home alone with their dad. Karen sighed, she was missing Slate, they were home alone as well. The greyscale gem tended to get lonely and Karen didn't want that at all. It would be-

Her thought was abruptly cut off by a loud bang, a scream, and the sound of many people panting, she jerked her head up at the noise and looked around, Scout had a confused and scared expression that she knew her face was mimicking.

Ashley hadn't even flinched, not even when Bonnie grabbed onto her tightly out of fear

Karen, deciding she would be the first sacrifice, slowly stood up and made her way over to the door

"here, I'll come too"

Scout said in a low voice as he stood up too, giving her a look that said "If you die, I'm dying with you." They slowly crept over to the door. The pair opened it hesitantly, what she expected was a group of killers or burglars, but to her surprise on the doorstep were multiple people that she recognized immediately, they all looked soaked to the bone and most of them were shaking.

There was Goldie in the front, she looked the most put together, with Kayleb standing next to her, shivering, Along with Amber and Kamri who were holding on to each other for dear life, next to them was Carson, who looked very sick, then Ophelia who was trying to squeeze the water out of her skirt moodily, Julia who appeared to be hiding, she also looked sickly.

Julia was the first to speak and with a small voice she asked " Uhm.... can you let us in...?"

She felt Scout slowly open the door wider to accommodate the new arrivals. The two stepped out of their way as they all trudged in. The first thing she saw as she entered the living room was Bonnie and Ashley's shocked faces.

" What are you all doing here?! And why are you all so wet? " Bonnie said faster than Karen could process " Ugh now you've tacked in all of this mud " she muttered under her breath as she stood up, presumably getting a towel or mop.

After they had settled down Karen and the others found out why they had come in the first place, Turns out they were at Karen, slate, and Julia's apartment when they left to the walk to the local CVS, when it had started to pour on them. They panicked and all ran over here. After the explanation, they all sat down and had hot chocolate as they watched " Polar Express ". Karen smiled, maybe this night wasn't going to be so bad after all.
