RUBY COYNE IS AHOPELESS romantic — in simple terms. She bore pleasure in placing all her measures and care into one soul. If she fell in love: she fell hard. She had discovered that if she'd put all her effort into worshiping someone. She would acquire what she constantly desired, for someone to care for her. The brunette accepted any devotion and adoration shown to her — taking no care of how harmful her concept was. She presumed her kind heart to be one of her best qualities, while most saw it as her most significant fault. Ruby was naive to not solely the view of love but the idea.
This is why she saw no harm in agreeing to go on a date with Rafe Cameron and decided to become his girlfriend even after he embarrassed her in front of their mutual friends — calling her vicious names over her choice of clothing. She swore to herself that his hurtful outbursts were simply an outcry, that he wasn't mad at her, that he just had a lot on his plate. That he needed her as much as she needed him, he loved her. She just knew it.
