His hands were red. He fell to his knees as his heart pounded. Guilt weighed him down, making him unable to stand. Screams filled the usual silence of the field, and although it was sunny, a storm tore through the plains. He let out a scream as he saw his two precious hyungs before him, their swords sheathed and their hands in the air.
"Why did it have to be this way?" he asked himself as the world suddenly grew dark. The last thing he saw wasn't his two hyungs, but a small red fox which had piercing eyes.
Jungkook jolted awake, his face dripping in a cold sweat. It took him a minute to catch his breath, but when he did, all he could think about was the small fox that appeared before him in his dream. Jimin burst through the door, panting, "Jungkook-ah, I heard you from next door, are you okay?" He quickly ran to the younger's side and began caressing his head. Jungkook could do nothing but shake as Jimin's warmth engulfed him. Suddenly, Jungkook felt small and vulnerable as if he was a child once more, and it seemed like he could do nothing to stop it.
A week passed after the soldier's funeral, and the Hwarang went back to normal duties. Jungkook and Jimin were sent home, and Taehyung and Seokjin were sent to patrol around the village as usual.
Taehyung stepped inside the library, expecting to find Namjoon. To his surprise, Namjoon wasn't in his usual corner. Instead, Agust was amongst the pile of books; Taehyung didn't know that the farmer took an interest in reading. When he approached him, he found that the farmer was immersed in a history book, outlining the end of the most recent modern war.
"Why are you out and about like this? Aren't you worried that people will see you?" Taehyung asked, alarmed. The farmer shrugged, "Nobody has seen me Taehyung-ssi," He paused to read another sentence in his book, "at least, nobody has suspected me like you and Seokjin did anyways."
Taehyung went pale in the face. There were so many people in the library, yet nobody has taken notice of the farmer. The man who took a quick glance at the two of them didn't even batter an eyelash at the Emperor's doppelgänger.
"Hyung," a worried voice shot out from behind him. Taehyung spun around quickly to see a very worried Jungkook practically shaking behind him. The older sighed. He would try and attempt to test Jungkook's recognition of Agust, but with the luck he had so far, he thought that there was no point. However, the older couldn't help but notice the tremor of Jungkook's doe-like eyes, which were once full of youth, but now clouded with a storm that couldn't quite be identified.
Was this "growing up?" Taehyung furrowed his brows, wondering if he was this troubled like this two years ago. Jungkook didn't dare look up as Taehyung tried to comfort him. Agust also looked concerned, his usually blank expression changing to a frown.
