"Careful! That's precious fox fur!" A shopkeeper hissed at Agust as he brushed against a rug that hung on a washing line. He frowned at the man, who also didn't recognise his familiar face, but simply walked away from the hideous rug. It was probably overpriced, perhaps even a scam. Agust squinted at it and shuddered. The man didn't acknowledge the farmer's face as he scoffed at him. Agust frowned, proceeding towards the Emperor's palace.
The top of the gates peered down on the farmer, whose skin looked much more tan when the shadows washed over him. He noticed Park Jimin running out of the gates, holding onto a parcel as if his life depended on it. There were dark circles under his cresent eyes, as he spent a lot of his time taking care of the youngest, Jungkook.
Not long after Jimin left, Jungkook followed, kicking out his legs after a long night's rest. He wanted to pick himself up because he wanted Jimin to rest himself. Every time he looked up, his eyes were bright, but his dark circles made his heart ache with pity. He was eager to make it up to him.
Jungkook snuck around the market with a bag of coins in hand. He smiled cheesily as he bought various items from different market stalls. He picked up a new bag for Jimin, his favourite food, flowers, and so much more you'd think he was spoiling the emperor. As the pouch grew lighter, the cheeky grin on his face grew and grew. Before sunset, he sprinted back home to surprise Jimin.
Each little thing was placed perfectly. When Jungkook stood back to admire his work, he almost felt too proud. Surprising Jimin was the least he could do since he took care of him for so long. He impatiently waited at the doorstep, drawing pictures in the dirt with a stick like a small child. When he saw the older man walk through the gates, his heart raced. He immediately rose to his feet and sprinted over to greet him.
"Jungkook! what are you doing out here? You should be resting!" Jimin exclaimed, shocked by the sheer excitement of his younger.
"I have a surprise for you Hyung! Close your eyes!" Jungkook replied with a giggle. Before Jimin could respond, Jungkook placed his hands over his crescent eyes, leading the confused man inside.
Jungkook almost forgot about Agust for the moments he was with Jimin. Feeling so light and happy made him even more excited to unclasp his hands. However, he was eager to see Jimin's reaction to his hard work.
"Jungkook, where are you taking me?" Jimin said, excited and concerned. The younger remained silent apart from the few giggles that escaped his trembling lips.
"Hyung, I wanted to thank you for everything you've done for me. I wanted to give something back to show my gratitude."
Jungkook gently lowered his hands from Jimin's face. Jimin looked around the room in awe as he saw the handmade decorations, the banner that had "Thank you Jimin Hyung!" scribbled across them, the table neatly prepared with food and treats, and a little box with a brand new leather bag beside it.
Before Jimin had the time to react, Jungkook presented the bag to him.
"Your bag looks so old so I got you a new one!" He said with his bunny teeth almost sparkling with happiness. Jimin could barely hold onto the bag because his hands trembled so much. Jungkook ushered him to sit, where he then presented a smaller box.
"Park Jimin, this is a special gift. I want you to look at it and think about us. I picked it out because it reminded me of you."
Jimin was starstruck by Jungkook's gesture. The box was small, but it was beautifully crafted. He almost thought that the gift was the box itself before he unhooked the handle and lifted the lid.
Inside the box, there lay a priceless ring, with a thin golden chain above it. Jimin shook his head in disbelief as he watched it sparkle.
"Jungkook, are you proposing to me?" He joked, nudging the younger. A blush rose to Jungkook's face as Jimin put the ring on his finger.
"If I were to propose to you I'd make the celebration much more grand than this," He said softly, running his fingers through Jimin's hair. He took his hand with the ring and stared at it for a long moment. "It suits you Hyung."
Jimin rubbed Jungkook's cheek, before resting his head on his shoulder.
"This is the most meaningful thing anybody has done for me Jungkook, thank you," He whispered. The two sat there for a moment, with the buzz of electricity filling the silence of the room.
Jungkook suddenly offered Jimin a piece of mochi.
"Come on Jimin Hyung! This is to your hard work!"
